I thought to myself as they were showing the teams before the shootouts... "Colombia looks way too amped up, Swiss look calm and like it's any other Tuesday". Felt reflected in their results.
Colombia have moments of flash but cannot finish. It was the same in their game vs Portugal earlier in the group stages. Gotta hand it to the Swiss for being consistent and disciplined. Never going to wow you as one of the more exciting teams but they grind out results
My order of remaining teams that I least want to win the WC are: 1. Argentina 2. Spain 3. England 4. France 5. Belgium 6. Switzerland 7. Norway. I think it would be fun if Norway won.
My order is: 1. Spain and Argentina in equal measure 2. France The rest I don't care, and while I have no quarrel with England, I already know they won't win. I just hope Belgium can cause an upset and knock Spain out of the World Cup. Would be really awesome if Norway won it out of the blue.
My list of teams I would not like to win the World Cup. 1. France 2. Spain I don't care about who among the rest wins it.
2026 WC is the first time in all these WCs that neither Brazil nor Germany (or West Germany) are in the quarterfinals.
I wouldn't like France or Argentina to win it. A win would get France to 3 WCs and Argentina to 4. France, however, are the strongest side of this WC.
Spain strike first. Too much fire power for the Belgians to handle coming out of that hydration break
What an answer by Belgium. De Ketelaere playing like a superior version of Havertz in his last couple of games
That was a crystal clear hand play from Spain right before the hydration break. Should have been a penalty for Belgium.
Unfortunately Fifa will make sure the top four in that list make the semis...I mean they already rigged the draw to make sure those exact 4 only meet in the semis....why ruin the plan by letting Norway or the Swiss get through? All signs indicate they want another Messi Vs Mbappé final....Hopefully this time the French will take it if thats the final. Having said that....Norway shitting on Fifa's plans and somehow stealing this would be amazing to see.
Injuries- I can’t help but think about Bellingham and Musiala 2024 vs 2026. Hopefully he finds his form and is at peak in 2030
They'll have to overcome one major stat: No country has ever won the World Cup with a foreign head coach. The closest it ever came to happen was 1958 and 1978.
Bellingham and to a lesser extent kane have virtually carried England. But to beat France Or Spain they will have to improve alot. They have no control in the games its just clutch moments from Bellingham. To be honest, both Argentina and Switzerland will fancy their chances
If England's next two opponents are Argentina and Spain, then I definitely prefer them winning it over those alternatives. As for Musiala, after the WC he underwent surgery to get a plate removed in his leg resulting from the injury. I never had that but I'm sure sometimes it doesn't feel 100% normal and being a bit more conscious and cautious would be understandable. So hopefully he'll be looking better soon.
