No. We played bad..we lost. Well come back. I actually look forward to the rebuilding. Thats what we do. We have 4 Stars. We will manage. For me against Italy 2006 at was the worst because we actually played really well. This one here was just embaressing. But hey we are in good company.
In Euro 2000 I believe, Germany didn't go through the group stages, and came back VERY strong. I hope it happens again. Let's focus on Euro 2020 for now!
If you're going to use the 2000 Euros as the starting point, it would go: 2018 WC - bounced in the Group stages 2020 Euros - lose in the Finals 2022 WC - bounce in the Group stages
Germany exited this tournament because they outdid themselves. It's as simple as that. Everything in what Germany did was overdone. They overrun plays. The overshot the ball and passes. They had too many attackers. They played everything too quickly. Their approach was too lopsided and this became obvious from the time of the loss to Mexico. Low didn't find the right balance. The orientation of Germany's play was to over awe their opponents with numbers in attack and pace. It failed and forced opponents to dig in even more, making things even more difficult since they had to beat too many defenders in the box. Worst of all, Low left the German defense over exposed this way. For example, Boateng would not have found himself sent off against Sweden if not for Low's overzealous offensive tactics. Boateng was forced to over commit himself time and again. Mexico, Sweden and Korea were able to look really dangerous on counters because Germany had too few men at the back. These are not great sides offensively, but Germany made them better sides because they over committed their numbers too far forward. Time and again we saw Korea attack in 3v2 situations. The Koreans committed three men to their attacks and Germany committed 4-8. And for all of Germany's forwards, the best option they had in attack today was Hummels, a CB. The opponents weren't expecting him trek so far forward during open play because he's a CB, so he kept finding space in the Korean box since the Koreans didn't have anyone tracking him from deep. He's got great heading ability, but Hummels thinks the only way to score is by going for the top corner. He'd have probably scored if he got his headers down and across the net, but again the players felt a need to outdo themselves.
Alexi Lalas was asking who predicted this. You should send him a tweet. I didn’t think this result was possible, but considering Germany’s poor defense I thought they might not have enough to beat the GD.
Thought the whole time germany would pull something out of their sleeve. Didn't think it was going to happen for korea based on the frequent pass flubbing. Happy for them.
Sad to see Germany exit early. I always loved the German national team. But if you want my honest opinion, I really believe that Jochiam Low did not start the best lineup. Timo Werner is not good enough to be a starting striker. Quite inexperienced, and I really don't think he is even that good. And the 4-2-3-1 really had to be ditched. It worked in 2014, because Schweinsteiger was just at the end of his prime and Khedira partnered him really well. Also moved Kroos closer to goal. But now, Schweinsteiger is retired and there is no replacement of his quality as of now. Lahm was also a huge player that retired, and as I said no star striker since Klose retired. If I was coach I would switch to a 3-4-3 and try this: -Draxler-Muller-Sane- -Howedes-Kroos-Khedira-Kimmich- -Boateng-Hummels-Rudiger- -Neuer- Sane and Draxler are Germany's fastest players, and what I have seen was a real lack of pace this time. Reus and Ozil are great players, but they are just past their prime and are not known for speed.
Did Howedes even play at all this World Cup? I can understand Khedira. Muller was not used a his best position at all. Really he is NOT a winger. He has no pace. Yes I know it worked in 2014, but really Muller is not a winger.
No, he did not. You know why? Because he has no business playing for Germany anymore. On the wing or at CAM, Mueller has also lost some of his flair...much like Goetze and Schuerrle.
Mexicans are sending more than roses to Koreans. They are such classy people. It reminds me of Ku Klux Klan adorning their toddlers with little Klan hoods. Not just ordinary people but also Telemundo host makes racist gesture on air as South Korea rescues Mexico's World Cup hopes https://sports.yahoo.com/telemundo-...ea-rescues-mexicos-world-cup-2-200735305.html
It's crap like this that derails people in jumping to conclusions that idiots like that chef (host) represents an entire nation. People, wake up. There are idiots everywhere in every nation. Don't let things like this ruin or influence the love and glory shared by the good people who are not idiots. South Korea's victory over Germany and saving Mexico brought about a lot of positivity between the two nations. Heck there were Mexicans cheering outside of the Korean embassy in Mexico in gratitude for South Korea knocking out Germany and keeping Mexico alive to advance. Don't get side tracked by stupidity and rubbish people like that idiot and followers...
The greatest quality of Müller was his unpredictability. He ran there where no one would run. He was able to anticipate situations well. That's why it was hard to defend. That's why he scored and prepared so many goals. He was never fast, never physically strong, he has legs like toothpicks. He was never technically brilliant. But he had that one quality.
