There is going to be a lot of talk about this match so I figure I'll start it early.

The most interesting and exciting match for me in years.

Spain vs Germany, the epic midfield battle.

And here is where we need Kroos.

Should be a great match. I'm just happy that we are playing a good football playing side for once.

Exactly. But who will Kroos be potentially replacing?

Good luck guys, we finally meet a team wanting to attack since the Chile match.

    Hopefully a repeat of '08! :D

As I posted in the other thread, possibly something like this?

    -----------Schweinsteiger-------Khedira----------------

    ----------------------Kroos---------------------------

    --------Oezil-----------------------Cacau--------------

    ----------------------Klose---------------------------

An advanced diamond protected by our two holding players. Doubt it will happen though but it's an idea.

    Muller...

Or Kroos will be replacing Oezil, and Oezil will replace Muller.

i don't kno why u would change a system that's been workin so well, so just slot some1 in for thomas. why, oh why did the ref have to give the most unintentional handball in the match a yellow and not others??? sigh! :(

Yeah, that yellow, if anything should have been given to Messi.

Why can't we appeal that yellow??

I'll say this, if Del Bosque starts with Torres again then you will win.

I believe Muller will be replaced by Troche - this will spell disaster for germany as he does NOT bring to the game what Muller does. Wonder if Loew is gutsy enough to move Oezil to the right wing and Kroos as AM. Loew can then still bring Cacau or MArin in a little later. Also wondering if Jansen will play for Boateng.

I agree. Take Mueller off and use either Oezil and have Kroos in or just go player for player and sub in Troch or Marin. Leave Poldi alone.

And BayernGirl, where is your "burnt chicken"???

I'm looking at the bright side. This way Müller will be hungry and rested for the final!

Spain have looked solid, but not scary. With the way we have been playing so far I think we have a damn good chance of getting redemption. We didn't even deserve to have been in the Euro 08' final IMO. We only played decent/good in the Portugal game, we play poorly for the most part otherwise. They have basically the same team they did at Euro except with an out-of-form Torres and we have a completely new team.

It is going to be epic, that is for sure.

Problem is, there is no realistic substitution for Mueller. Marin is not preferred, and even I have my doubts about him as a starter, Kroos is the CM backup from what it looks like, Cacau isn't 100% yet and might not even be considered in that role and Trochowski is simply not good enough. Just going through the options logically. To be honest, I'd rather consider a little tactical alteration than trust and rely on Trochowski against Spain.

No one can adequately replace Muller.

The amount of energy and work Muller puts into the game from defence, midfield and attack is insane, Ozil and Marin wont track back like Muller does, WHile I cant say much for Cacau

Cacau wouldnt actually be a bad idea in my eyes. He is in my opinion a very similar player to Müller in his style and has the finishing and passing as well. I think he could be adequate.
