No Gashi. No Hairston....Interestingly, no Boli. So a week after trading our top striker and starting another striker that spent the entire week as “Questionable” with an ankle injury....at a period of time where striker depth is a REAL issue, not only can our TAM level striker not even make the 18...but apparently McBean (a USL level talent) and Nikki Jackson (a raw/untested 4th round draft pick) are the preferable options over that TAM level striker. Yeesh!
I mean, MacMath hasn't played well this season so I haven't had an issue with Howard starting but really, at this point the season is gone and Howard isn't getting any better. Give Zac a shot.
We can complain about a bad goal, but has anyone noticed there has been zero offense against a lousy defensive team?
Wilson is such a liability in the midfield and Price has been neutralized by being pushed so far forward because the ball never gets to him. Need to get a Wilson off the pitch. Push Price back to 6, Nicholson back into Price’s current position in the diamond and bring Jackson (or God forgive me....McBean) as the 2nd striker. We have not had a single shot on goal from the run of play and continue to either send the ball backwards towards the back line, or send a long ball prayer forward. Get Wilson off. Push Jack back.
No offense? Just wait until Hudson morphs the 4-4-2 into an 8-2-0 at half. Is it just me or does the seating at Audi Field look really steep?
Halftime observations. Barnes has been a potted plant. Ford struggling at FB. (I get this one—he’s probably never played it.). Midfield is scary bad. Castillo was awful except for a first class dive, (Wasn’t VAR supposed to fix that?) Ref struggled. Rooney whines too much.
As others have intimated, our midfield was completely ineffective in the first half. Wilson gives us nothing as a 6. Price is ineffective as AM - put Acosta there, please.
MLSsoccer.com shows Acosta with 3 shots (none on target) and a corner kick. The only other individual stats recorded by any Rapids are fouls committed/suffered.
