http://skysports.planetfootball.com...itle=Cobblers+sign+Dyche&channel=championship The 34 yr old Central Defender is sold to Northampton Town.
Glad you posted it-saw it this morn. Good/very good news for Demerit. Dyche/Cox was the pairing in the middle 1st half of year, while Demerit worked his way in for a few starts (mostly to rest one of those pair). Then in January, Dyche hurt his groin, and Demerit took the spot, and kept it the rest of year. Obviously, Dyche was getting up there in age- and struggled w/groin 2nd half of year, but if you look at Watford's roster now- there are no other players for the middle except for Cox, Demerit, and an 18 year old who just got promoted out of U17/Reserves. Demerit literally has no competition at the moment, although likely the gaffer brings in (at least) one more in the center. All the periphreal stuff tells us Demerit very much in plans for a starting role in the middle of Watford's D this year...The great story continues..
LOL. Well, in (mostly) direct constrast to the gaffer's comments about Dyche.....up pops this today in Sky about a potential Watford transfer. http://skysports.planetfootball.com...ts+set+for+Spanish+swoop&channel=championship I guess Jay's situation was too too good to be true (at least for a day). Hopefully this fellow is seen as a replacement for the aging Cox (although this guy is 31)
Jay gets a real number... http://www.watfordfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/News/NewsDetail/0,,10400~683103,00.html
Wow, they let Cox go to Cardiff.... http://www.watfordfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/News/NewsDetail/0,,10400~685000,00.html So Jay sent off the 2 guys who were the central pair in defense for Watford most of last season (well, at least until Jay showed up). First half of last year, almost every game was Cox/Dyche (who's gone too) in the middle. Net/net, this is good news for Jay. A couple new defenders in, but of the 3 top central defenders last year- Jay's the only one staying. Jay's the Watford 'vet' (lol). Obviously, the gaffer wanted to get younger...
Another Watford defender is let goes (and signs w/Cardiff). Darlington. http://skysports.planetfootball.com...rlington+joins+Bluebirds&channel=championship That's 3 they let go (Cox, Dyche, and Darlington)..
http://www.watfordfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/Match/Preview/0,,10400~686612,00.html Sietes apparently signed. Also, looks like the '1st team starters' will get more than 45minutes in tomorrow's match....so be on the look-out for Demerit getting more than 45 (by all indications SO FAR, he's the starter w/Sietes in the middle...)
http://www.watfordfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/News/NewsDetail/0,,10400~686860,00.html 3-0 win for Watford, their 2nd in pre-season. Jay starts and goes 63 minutes...gets a good mention as a vocal, solid leader. By all indications, Jay is the incumbent and starter now. Sietes- ironically- is listed as a fullback now (Sky had him as playing in the center). So, I believe Jay currently partner in the middle is one of the Watford guys who last year played even less than Jay. Jay as the 'vet'
awesome for jay. he may be a dark hourse for an 06 spot if he plays the whole time thgis season and stays healthy. i mean with some of the senior nats these days...pope for instance any of them could get hurt so its nice to have a possibility of such depth. again, and just for jay- this is agreat news for him. the club is showing great confidence in him forza inter
and a central defender at that. http://www.watfordfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/News/NewsDetail/0,,10400~687493,00.html Nice hair, too. For what it's worth, he's 25 and has no caps (so it seems) with Australia. http://www.footballaustralia.com.au...p?x=1&associationabv=NSL&lvl=3&menuItemID=266
Demerit is scheduled to start tonight w/Griffiths in the center...in a exhbition vs. Odensa (Denmark). The center options for Watford look to be: Demerit, Griffiths but also Sietes/Doyley (both of whom play outside back, and in the center). Again, nothing so far seems to indicate that Jay is seen as anything but the starter. This will be his 3rd consecutive pre-season start, and he usually plays a lot. Griffiths is only on a 6 month contract, and came from Belgian 1st division.
DeMerit (as Watford calls him..maybe we should?) starts and scores the first as Watford 'dominate' 2nd division Denmark's Vieje 4-0. More details later, but always good when the center half scores AND shuts 'em out
http://www.watfordfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/News/NewsDetail/0,,10400~689900,00.html In all likelihood, a 'good' result for Jay starting for Watford. Jay sits the first 45 minutes, and Watford go down 2-0. They eventually lose 3-0. The 'new guys' couldn't get the job done. In all the game Jay started, and played deep minutes..they won, and won easily. Jay still looking good as a starter at first of season...
