Unparalled success for players from Waterford
Premier Champions Man. Utd. John O'Shea
    Championship Sunderland Daryl Murphy
    Div. 1 Scunthorpe Jim Goodwin
Ciara Grant Arsenal Ladies - all 4 major trophies
    Stephen Hunt
Hopefully we'll see O'Shea Hunt and Murphy on the same Irish side in the forthcoming friendlies

Yes, they are doing well, though I believe Goodwin scored only one goal the whole season (isn't he a striker?)
EDIT: No, he is not a striker though I was right about the 1 goal thing (in league at least, he had one in LDV Vans as well)...though it doesn't really matter now that I know he is a defender. As they are champions that is good for him as he will likely play in the CCC next year (being an everyday player for them I would be surprised to see him sold to a League 1 club, perhaps he will drop to the bench though)

What sport were they playing? Maybe it was the semifinals of One Man And His Dog? That'd be 4 farmers, right?

This thread made me think of something... has there ever been a time when so many of our footballers come from outside of the pale? And many from counties where one would expect Gaelic games to reign supreme?...

In relation to PMannion's query it should be remembered that none of the team that beat Italy in the World Cup in 1994 was born in Dublin !

Are you sure? I could have sworn Andy Townsend was from Dundrum.

    Dear Lashjack ,
The phonetic spelling of Waterford as pronounced by the locals is Waaaherford !
However as you like myself are a fan of the mighty Spurs I will forgive you !
I was in the Three Shippes in Waterford last night watching the Champions league Final , John O'Shea was there cheering on the Pool , apparently a fan from childhood.
Tell your Dad he can look forward to seeing 4 Waterford players in the premiership next year as Eddie Nolan is vey close to breaking into to the Blackburn team , he played one EUFA cup game last year

Dammit I always get Drogheda and Dundalk confused (probably because their both in Louth)
