For those of us who can't make it out to LA, though we're slowly dying because we can't, is there anything planned yet for a Chicagoland establishment where we can watch and celebrate while enjoying some cold beverages?
I cant go neither , i want a good place to watch with all the fire fans that cant be in LA supporting our men in red. let us know
If anyone is around the Crystal Lake area, I am having a watch party in my house, so anyone who wants to come to that can do so. MLS Cup on the big screen! (6 feet!)
two things: if theres a major watch party i'm really hoping its not at a bar...i'm only 17 and also......how far is crystal lake from naperville?
Gingers Ale House, anyone? 3801 N. Ashland, Chicago...cnr of Ashland and Grace Lotsa TV's...might even open up the third room, w big screen TV for the cup. www.gingersalehouse.com And if you've got a BIG appetite, try the curry chicken.
Re: Re: Watch Party For The Championship I was considering Ginger's as well. Anyone else? Btw, for mack you should be able to go and watch the game and have some food there since it's a family friendly pub. Just as long as you hold back on ordering Newcastles, you'll be fine
Crystal Lake as in by McHenry/LITH/Alqonquin? Holy *#*#*#*#, I live in that town...what are the chances....
Re: Re: Re: Watch Party For The Championship I be there two dont want to sit home and watching the game. Count me in
ginger's is the place. one of the owner's regularly attends the fire games, so you've got to represent.
Whatever happens... we need to agree and get everybody to a single place. We can't be spread out. Since I came back to Chicago, I've lived in the suburbs, but I know that whatever watch party we have will need to be in Chicago. The atmosphere at The Hidden Shamrock was unbelievable during MLS Cup '98. There were so many people there. When the game ended, with us victorious, we all went out into the street (Halsted) and cheered. We were all out in the street when a fire truck from the station across the street came out with sirens blaring. I was thinking that we needed to stop blocking traffic so the fire engine could get to wherever it was going... All of a sudden, a guy riding on the truck pulled out a giant Chicago Fire flag and started waving it around as the truck made a couple laps around the block. It was amazing. We need everybody together... just NOT at Peg Leg Sullivan's, as that place is seriously bad luck. Also, whatever we do, we need to make it understood that we are taking the place over. *#*#*#*# football, basketball, hockey... anything else they might be showing... so we need to be in contact. I am ok with Ginger's. I have been there several times for various matches. I do remember some losses, but not as many as Peg Leg's. We need to all get someplace... one place... and create a Section 8 away from the stadium.
well i have the feeling that no matter where the party is i wont be there thanks to my age and the fact that i'm still in school.....damn the system.
I don't live in the Chicago area or anything, but MOST bars will only card you if you try to buy alcohol. Otherwise you should be able to get in fine. Call that bar and find out just to make sure. So long as you don't try to buy any booze, you should be okay.
In '98, Hala's little brothers were something like 10 and 8 or something... probably older; I don't remember... but they were young, and they were there. Whoever gets things going with whatever happens may work something out to make sure it's all ages. Or maybe one of us could be a guardian for the night. You'd be going with an adult. Ginger's has food... a full menu, so it might not be that difficult to get in with an adult. Just don't try to drink.
i'll see what i can do - i have a feeling the fact that it's a school night may make it a little difficult for me...but i'll see what i can do.
Ginger's is AWESOME!!! For those people who have not been to Ginger's...you are in for a real treat. I drove down from Arlington Heights for about 5 Arsenal matches and the place is great! 1. Tons of TVs 2. Great beer selection 3. Good food (Irish pub) 4. Great atmosphere 5. Tons of footie fans (Owner is an Everton Fan) 6. Nice neighborhood P.S. This place gets packed quick so don't show up late. HAVE FUN...I might make it down.
10 and 8! I can't ever remember their ages but geez all I know is keefe is 16 now and rory 18...so they'd have been 10 and 12, maybe? ah nevermind
Excellent news, by the way. The Bears have the 3:00 game on Sunday so there won't be as much fighting with NFL fans for TV's. Some, but not nearly as bad.
There is a great watch party going down over in Carson, Ca at the "Home Depot Center" also known as the tool box. Sell your car, Rob a bank, Whore your wife, sister or mother!! Do what you have to do. This is it!!! but if you can't then don't just watch at Gingers...rock Gingers!!
