Why is there any controversy here. Koopmeiners will be starting in the Euros.

He should, but you never know with Koeman.
    My midfield would be:

    Frenkie-------------Koop----------Reijnders.

Since we're technically playing without a holding MF'er, de Jong and Reijnders will have to perform that duty.
A midfield of Frenkie-------------deRoon----------Reijnders would be terrible because none of those 3 score a lot of goals, and you want some goals to come from MF.

All this is assuming we play a 4-3-3 of course

    Sold! Give me this...

This is by far midfield balanced that Koeman can hope for. Koopmeiners will be the most advanced midfielder with eyes on goal. Reijnders is the all-around (or box-to-box) energizer bunny.

Frenkie is the deep-lying playmaker... obviously he has the biggest question mark with his fitness and all that. Without him, a broke man's version of Frenkie (i.e. Veerman) is the natural back-up to inject creativity with his passing range. But I think Q. Timber (8 goals and 9 assists this season - not to scoff at!) is also very much in contention for a midfield spot.

4-3-3 or 5-3-2 doesn't matter, does it? Both formations need three men in the middle of the pitch :D:D

Not if Koeman decides to play a 5-2-3 with only 2 MF'ers (which would be foolish IMO)

That 5-2-3 is risky and I doubt Koeman is adventurous enough to try, but in theory it could work... it really needs the right type of player, in particular, a CB who can push up and become a pseudo defensive midfielder.

I can think of three CB’s who have played in midfield before, none is very ideal given the current situation…. Ake (badly needed to cover LWB with Hartman out), J. Timber (not fit enough?), and fan’s favorite Blind :p

Schouten is interesting as he flipped to CB for PSV quite regularly. But he lacks playing time in Oranje, so he won’t be just walk into the lineup. Geertruida (versatile enough? Jack of all trades, master of none)

Twente’s attacking midfielder, Sem Steijn… 5 goals and 1 assist in last three matches, including a hattrick today. For the season overall he has 19 goals and 3 assists. Top 5 goal-scorer in Eredivisie.

Oranje call-up soon (after the Euro)?

I am a bit concerned with Frankie’s fitness. I would like to see Koeman to try with Schouten Koop Reijnders or Timbers Koop Reijnders in the next 2 matches to prepare in case Frenkie not ready the 1st or 2nd Euro match. I also would like to see Koeman try with Maatsen as LB and Frimpong as RW. These would be too much to try by Koeman standard so i will not ask for Xavi as attacking midfield.

    Agree

    Zirkzee- Depay

    koops

    Maatsen- Reijnders- Schouten- Frimpong

Van der ven- Van dijk- De light

    Verbruggen

Gakpo and brobbey back up strikers for Depay and zirkzee

Lang/ Simons as supersub for Maatsen as attacking wingbacks probably when they are losing while Schouten can drop back in defense as well

I’m all in on Koopmeiners but who knows what Koeman is up to
    My XI as of now.
    Gakpo Malen
    Koop
    VdVen Frenkie Reijnders Frimpong
    Ake Virgil. De Ligt
    Verbruggen

My 3-5-2 with a different look with Koop the most attacking midfielder or 10.
Of course these formations are all subject to change when in possession, and while defending.
There are some possible variations with Vd Ven and Ake switching and this could also become a 4-3-3.
Other possibilities could be Brobbey as a 9 Xavi a 10 or out wide.
    Memphis as a super sub.
Schouten perhaps in mix if Frenkie is not fit.
Dumfries over Frimpong is likely and perhaps Maatsen gets LWB roll
Koeman can also play 4-2-3-1, 3-4-3, but who really knows because nothing is settled and everything changes with and without the ball from a tactical standpoint.

You wanna put an unproven striker like Zirkzee ahead of Gakpo who had a decent WC2022??

    It's a bit unfair.
He got special training the last few months from Ruud van Nistelrooij on positioning, making runs and shooting.
    Sem's shots are deadly accurate.
All of a sudden we got emerging canons on the midfield.

This is quite encouraging! I have only watched a handful of Twente highlights this season (full disclaimer!) - and it doesn’t look like Sem is lightning fast (just like Ruud Van Goal), so it’s good to hear that positioning and shooting be a big piece of his training regimen.

Xavi chose to leave PSV and return to PSG.
I thought it to be a big mistake, as PSG isnot exactly an environment you can develop yourself.
He ended up onloan at RB Salzburg, which was good as it's outside PSG.
His choice for PSG over PSV however now is biting him in his ambition to play for Barcelona, as PSG can loan him or order him to return to Paris, which Xavi doesnot want.
So waddafok did you sign for PSG then instead of PSV?

Joey Veerman finished as the leader in assists in Eredivisie… 16 assists overall (19 in all competitions).

Incredibly, he is the first Oranje player who finished as king of assists in Eredivisie since 2012 :eek: The last player was Luciano Narsingh. Everybody else since him has been foreign players.

No. 2 and no. 3 behind Veerman this year are/were also Dutch internationals… Luuk de Jong (15 assists) and Calvin Stengs (12 assists). Neither will be in the Euro squad this summer.

After Europa League victory it is clear: around the neck of Teun Koopmeiners is very hefty price tag

Worrying signals coming out of Barcelona.
It's not going well with Frenkie de Jong's ankle.

His problem is with the syndesmosis and the bad part of that problem is that it can't be fixed with surgery.
