Watching highlights of Brentford vs Brighton aka Verbuggen vs Flekken. Are either of these two on the radar?
24847 Yup. I think he should wait until he's out of the UxOrange Squads to see what his status will be in the Orange Squad goalies. If he would be 3d in the list and he would be 1st for Ghana, given goalies have long careers, chances for Ghana would look good.
Verbruggen not having a good day https://www.flashscore.com/match/v9YLQH0n/#/match-summary/match-summary
There defending has been terrible today quite obviously although Verbruggen had a very bad pass that setup the 7th Goal for Nottingham Forest who brought on former PSV Midfield Ibrahim Sangare for the first time since September we’re he suffered a bad Hamstring injury. One other note from this match Tariq Lamptey is playing for Brighton, and who is strongly rumored to be coming to Ajax looks like a U11 player. Just very small and slight, and yes often injured by the way is the Ghanaian. Kroes needs to do better than this
Verbruggen with an assist today to make up for his blunder. Brighton 2 - 0 Chelsea at halftime Chalobah should be doing better and I’ve spoken about his aerial ability defensively but I don’t 100% blame him. There’s an issue structurally. Chelsea were outnumbered at the back when Verbruggen went long. It’s 5 Brighton attackers(Lamptey far side) to Chelsea’s 4 defenders. https://t.co/XlKfCxrYWn— EO (@MannyUTFR) February 14, 2025
27579 'Flekken best performing Premier League goalkeeper' Mark Flekken is having a very strong season at Brentford. The Dutch goalkeeper only has to tolerate four goalkeepers above him in the ranking of research agency CIES in terms of last year's performance. Only Gianluigi Donnarumma (Paris Saint-Germain), Yann Sommer (Internazionale), Thibaut Courtois (Real Madrid) and Stanislav Agkatsev (FK Krasnodar) are ranked higher than Flekken. The 31-year-old Limburger has conceded 45 goals in thirty Premier League matches this season. Six times he kept his goal clean. The index is based on the level of the competition, team statistics and individual numbers, among other things. Remko Pasveer, the nestor of the CIES list, is fourteenth.
28676 Marco Bizot completes dream transfer and signs for two years at Aston Villa The transfer of Marco Bizot to Aston Villa has been completed. The former goalkeeper of FC Groningen and AZ, among others, was presented on Tuesday by the club from Birmingham, which takes him over from Stade Brest. The 34-year-old goalkeeper from Hoorn signed a contract for two seasons.
Robin Roefs (Jong Oranje starting goalie) moves to the newly-promoted Sunderland in the EPL for a whopping 10.5 million Euro with 3 million add-ons and resale percentage Great business for NEC for sure (and Eredivisie)! This now makes Roefs as the second most expensive Dutch GK (after Cilessen, whom interestingly enough, was Roefs’ predecessor at NEC). Hoping for great things from this young fella, and it’s great to see a rising competitor for Verbruggen in Oranje!
Joeri Heerkens who was the Dutch U-19 keeper and just transferred to Ajax (he grew up in the Czech Republic) is likely to be the Ajax #1 next season. He is better than Roefs.
I’m not enthusiastic about Roefs. Great move for him but he’s going to get way more than he bargained for at Sunderland and we will all find out if he’s up to the task.
29544 Well, we can put a X through Noppert's name as an Orange Squad goalie for the foreseeable future. Andries Noppert, the goalkeeper of SC Heerenveen, made a glaring mistake in the opening goal of Brynjolfur Willumsson in the lost Derby of the North against FC Groningen.
He’s played well, and although I’m not totally convinced about him his start at Sunderland has been very good.
30346 Papers write the other epl clubs (guess they mean the ones that were in search for a good goalie) are now pissed about this transfer (=they missed this opportunity). He is already being compared with van der Sar by some, which seems to be a high praise.

Rubin Roefs are making some noises at EPL… the newly-promoted Sunderland is having a great start, and 5th on the table. Recent write up on him (courtesy of FourFourTwo): A key reason for that start has been Sunderland's Roefs. The Dutchman is, at the time of writing, the Premier League's best-performing goalkeeper from a shot-stopping perspective. The 22-year-old has prevented more goals than any other stopper, registering a Post Shot Expected Goals (PSxG) value of 2.2 after six matches, according to FBRef data. This means due to the quality of shots faced, Roefs should have conceded two more goals on average than the actual tally Sunderland have allowed. Due to the goalkeeper's shot-stopping, though, they have not, conceding just four in those six matches. Last weekend, Roefs made six saves as Sunderland defeated Nottingham Forest 1-0 at the City Ground. In the 0-0 draw away to Crystal Palace - who are 18 games unbeaten across all competitions - Roefs also made six stops, four of which came inside the penalty area.
He was 31 when he moved to Fulham after a mediocre third season at Juventus (the club purchased Gianluigi Buffon who made the former Ajax keeper redundant). Also, remember that he won a Champions League title with Ajax and were runners up the next year!
