They are still in the bottom half of the table and don't look like they will get promoted any time soon.

Arne Slot in 2024… 41 wins, 9 draws and 1 loss in all competitions (for both Feyenoord and Liverpool). Excellent year for him! He will start collecting trophies for Liverpool soon with this kind of trajectory…
32464 Wow. New York City FC have reportedly found their next head coach in Pascal Jansen. The 51-year-old Dutchman was confirmed to be bought out of his contract with Hungarian side Ferencvaros by "a group that owns one of the world's leading football clubs," with Fabrizio Romano reporting that City Football Group were behind the contract buyout and that his appointment with the MLS side is imminent.
32699 So, Patrck Kluivert is the new national team coach of Indonesia. It's quite hilarious. If both the Netherlands and Indonesia manages to qualify for the world Cup, we in fact will have two Orange Squads with a Dutch coach at the helm.
Kluivert will certainly take the "Dutchification" effort (naturalizing as many Dutch-Indonesia players as possible) to a new height!! I am surprised that Gio van Bronckhorst was not hired as a head coach, given his heritage (and lack of employment) to begin with
33082 This former Orange Lioness is now the head coach of Arsenal: 'Excelled in time as an interim' Arsenal has given Renée Slegers a permanent appointment as head coach of the women's team. The former Dutch international has signed a contract until mid-2026 with the London top club. The 35-year-old Slegers had been an assistant coach since the summer of 2023 and was put forward as head coach on a temporary basis in October. She replaced the Swede Jonas Eidevall, who suddenly resigned. Under Slegers, Arsenal set itself up and the team recorded ten wins and a draw. "We are delighted to appoint Renée as our permanent head coach. She has excelled during her time as an interim," reports director of women's football Clare Wheatley on the Arsenal website. At Arsenal, the Dutch internationals Daphne van Domselaar and Victoria Pelova play. "I am so excited to continue our journey together," says Slegers. "It is a great honor to represent this club as head coach and I have a lot of confidence in what we can achieve together. Wow. I congratulate her with this achievement. One to keep an eye on for the Orange Lionesses spot. Seems that our former ladies profs are good in the transition to the coaching position.
Ruud Van Nistelrooy really made a terrible decision to join Leicester City who are absolutely horrendous. I see no chance that they don’t get relegated along with the likelihood that Ruud gets sacked.
Arne Slot is banned for the Liverpool league matches (v. Newcastle today, and S’oton next week). His place on the sideline will be filled by…. Johnny Heitinga
Slot is badly exposed now. Always picks the same team again and again. Salah on a empty stomach is useless (Islam... like the atomic bomb an invention that should never have happened)
Johan Cruyff is essentially the father of modern soccer and arguably the single most influential figure in the game's history. He once said, "If your players are better than your opponents, 90% of the time you will win." So many words have been written about the complex tactical ideas of Cruyff's protege, Pep Guardiola. And yet, he once said this about breaking down match film: "I said many times when we make videos, 'This is fake.'" How you have to make the decision, how many times you do it: it only belongs to the players. I've said it many times: we, the managers, are overrated in our influence." So, how much influence do they have? Here's Carlo Ancelotti, who has won more Champions League titles than any other manager: "I am very clear that there are two types of coaches: those who do nothing, and those who do a lot of damage. I try to be the first. The game is for the players and you can tell them a certain strategy, convince them, but then the decisive thing is their quality and commitment." This echoes the idea established by his compatriot Giovanni Trappatoni, one of only three coaches to win all three of Europe's major continental trophies: "A good manager makes a team 10% better, and a bad manager makes it 30% worse." That article links to a paper. Where manager performances are assessed. Hard to believe Diego Simeone ranks 217th of 242th in total.
Pffft, typically English/British/Anglo-Saxon ignorance of the fact that it was Happel, who's the father of modern football. Cruijff forced Michels to adapt/adopt Happel's 4-3-3, after their 4-2-4 formation 1969 was obliterated by our Hanegem-Jansen-Hasil midfield. Johan was intelligent enough to recognize the brilliance of what Happel introduced in the Netherlands.
35914 Dutch coach Renée Slegers has a chance to become Coach of the Year in the English women's league. The manager of Arsenal has been nominated for the honorary award together with four others. Slegers started the season as an assistant, but became head coach after the dismissal of Jonas Eidevall. The Dutch guided Arsenal to second place behind champion Chelsea, in addition, Arsenal is in the Champions League final against Barcelona. On May 24, the decision will be made in that tournament.
https://www.nrc.nl/nieuws/2025/05/2...sh&utm_medium=breaking_news&utm_term=20250523 I am not allowed to copy the text but just click the link. It has some interesting comments in this: - His tactical instructions are at the same level as when he coached 14 years old kids. - Adjustments compared to Klopp/Lijnders. Such as more positional training, longer discussions, players not as often in hotels. - Descriptions about certain players like Salah and McAllister ("defensively vulnerable" says Slot). - He thinks always picking the same lineup helped them to win the league (and big games, like two wins vs City) but maybe not Europe. Liverpool was in March "not the usual self". He implicitly says he overworked certain players like Salah. Just read it and or use translator if necessary. It does feel like he is a bit homesick. He says he misses the life of his home country.
36338 In the UK they already were charmed by Renee Slegers, but that turned into absolute admiration the last few months this year.
36731 Oh shit. Departure of success coach Paul Simonis at Go Ahead Eagles near: German club reports in Deventer Go Ahead Eagles will probably see Paul Simonis leave. The successful coach is in far-reaching talks with the German VfL Wolfsburg, which has now contacted Deventer. The deal is expected to be completed in the short term.
