Agreed, the best best defender on Brighton’s side. Here’s how he is commented:

CB: Jan Paul van Hecke - 7/10 - An imposing display from the Dutch centre-back, who won duel after duel with Bruno Fernandes and Rashford. Unfortunate that his long leg helped United draw level.

This could be a nice breakthrough season for him (similar to Van De Ven last year).

Watched whole match, and Timber was very good and quite active.
Smart tactical decision by Arteta who moves him from LB while in possession off the ball into central midfield which showcases his excellent possession, and ability to make good decisions under pressure.
As I’ve said before this quality is a big reason why I can easily see him playing a holding midfield role for Oranje.
Maatsen came on at Leftback for Digne and shows great pace and attacking ability.

I disagree. His short falls will come with bigger teams. And why would u wanna invest in somebody playing out of position and not a left footer for LB. You look at cancelo, dalot, tripper at most. Could play on the left. Average to good but really didnt standout.

Enough of the tatical trial and error madness which backfires at crucial moments or stages( NT). Keep in mind of other teams .

It's time to start Maatsen and boost up his confidence level going into the world cup. This is the most logical thing to do keeping the future in mind.

Arsenal also brought in calafiori for that LB position who is a natural left footer. It's a matter of time before he start competing for that starting spot as well

Timber is an excellent player who has both the technical and tactical ability to play in several positions, and those traits will be important for any Manager or Team.
That said he would probably be most comfortable at Rightback, and would likely perform at a very high level, but other than his lack of size he’s shown a very good player.
Maatsen shows very good attacking ability and still needs to show greater defensive ability which will come if he gets more consistent playing time.
Future is bright Orange with several younger talents coming through.

Timber now is available for Mikel Arteta. The Spanish manager immediately takes advantage of this. In the opening match against Wolverhampton Wanderes, the defender came on after three quarters of the game and against Aston Villa, Timber even starts in the starting line-up. It is striking that Arteta uses Timber in a significantly different way than his previous coaches at Ajax. In Amsterdam, Timber almost always filled a role as a right central defender or right back. At Arsenal, Arteta sees him more as a left-back with a special set of tasks.

I think it's logical. He omly performed well as a CD at Ajax in the shadow of that Argentine CD. Not so much after that guy left for iirc ManUnited.
On top of that he's too small for the epl as a CD.

Geertruida done deal to Leipzig  I think this is a good move. Leipzig seem to be well-coached, play in the UCL, and are always challenging the Bundesliga upper side of the table. Linking up with Xavi Simons.

Arsenal has signed new left-backs. Will Timber play when everyone is fit?

Low transfer fee imho. Clubs from Portugal at least receive the double amount.

  11. ???He's right footed.

  12. He has only a contract till summer next year left.

Yes, but Portugal regularly sells for 60 million. Each year their transfer balance is superior.

They also pay higher wages (lower taxes, below the table payments). It will be difficult to beat them in the coefficients over the long run.

He played well again, and quite frankly he’s a very talented player who’s nice to watch play.
Looked like the physio was stretching the knee and back of leg.
He wanted to continue on and walked off normally, but quite worrying after what he’s gone through.

I am always impressed with J. Timber, looks like an intelligent player, and read the game well. Hence very adaptable (versatile) and can be placed in multiple positions… RB, CD, DM and now LB. Unfortunately, this can be a drawback as well. Being constantly shifted (and injury history) may hurt his career in the long run. But who knows, maybe he will do just fine. Interestingly enough, he has a precedent in Daley Blind (finally retired from Oranje!), who is also a jack-of-all-trade, with high IQ, and health scare!

I wont disagree what's being said about his traits but he is too clumsy when it comes to tackling, its comes as a no surprise that his start to epl had landed him with two lengthy injuries.

By the time he returns, he will be a bench player. His chapter basically just started and closed

Are you kidding me, Timber just turned 23 this summer, he's got a whole career ahead of him.

His injury was not serious btw. Just a cramp

After mega transfer, Euro and a CL final, Ian Maatsen has to prove himself with the Dutch Young OrangeSquad: 'I could have canceled, but I'm not like that'.

If I was Aston Villa, I would have denied him to go to Young Orange, because of injury risk for a match not fit to his status.
I mean, you fokking select Hato and let Maatsen join the pupils?
    Seriously?

Gsus, two more years to have to endure this moronic Cowman.

    Situation Maatsen

Also missing is Maatsen. Although the defender himself doesn't really understand why. He made that public earlier this week. The disappointed Maatsen indicated that he had not received an explanation from the national coach.
'He has to ask why that is', Koeman responded. 'I don't always call everyone. He was there at the European Championships, but didn't play much (not at all, ed.).'
Nevertheless, Koeman was willing to explain Maatsen's absence. 'I've seen Jurriën Timber as a left-back at Arsenal, he's preferred. He's back after a serious injury and I felt I had to give him a helping hand."

First of all, players selected have to have proven in high profile matches they belong in the selection and have a significant number of matches under their belt to be match fit. The Orange Squad isnot ment to give players a helping hand.
He was put on the pitch after 384 days not playing on a spot, left back, he never played at.
Second, Jurrien is right footed, which simply is an issue for a back in the atm most played systems, like Klopp/Slot/Pep do.
You for instance can't play Dumfries on the left, because how would he deliver balls in the box?
It simply is imbecil to prefer Timber on the left over Maatsen.
Maatsen has proven himself there in CL/BuLi matches, while Timber has never played there, at least not at the level Maatsen has, and simply isnot match fit. In the match he got injured again, it was the first time he started. In the two other epl matches he was subbed in.
But hey, when was the last time Cowhead showed he's up to the task?

Pretty simple. Hato can cover two positions and defend. Maatsen cannot defend and has proven this at both club and country. I say this from the point of view that I pretty much have given up on the NT until Koeman leaves.

Isn't van Dijk right footed? de Ligt is right footed but plays both CB positions. Though unrelated to the NT, both Rensch and Maraooui played LB while at Ajax.

Yes, but these werenot expected, as in the way Klopp/Bielsa/Slot/Pep play, to swing in balls into the box in the overlap with the winger.
