How would it be handled in the USA? If for instance a big NFL or NBA star had done this? I suspect the sheriff would show his voters how tough he is on celebrities too, with an all out press conference telling the guy is arrested with mug shots etc.
Reportedly Man Utd and Bayern have agreed on De Ligt transfer fee... looks like the move is finally happening! This would be a massive boost for De Ligt (who desperately needs a soft reset), and for Ten Haag's defensive unit.
Happy to get De Ligt at Ajax United of Manchester. He gets a reset with the Coach that got the best of him in his young career.
110933 Keep an eye on this one, 20yo Wouter Goes of AZ. He defends like a South American/Pepe kind of player Just 20yo, but already 2 season's in AZ's backline under his belt. He managed to drive Almere City attacker that crazy, he kicked Goes, resulting in a red card. https://www.vi.nl/nieuws/azer-beticht-van-onsportiviteit-knijpen-trekken-gekke-dingen-doen AZ player accused of unsportsmanship: 'Pinching, pulling, doing crazy things' In footy show "Studio Voetbal" a striker was asked about his experience with Wouter and he confirmed, also hearing from other football players, that Wouter uses all means to get you out of concentration/play, including scratching.
Souness claims deLigt is a light-weight https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/f...ayern-43m-Erik-ten-Hag-Manchester-United.html
If De Ligt is light-weight... then I don't know what Maguire is To Souness' credit, his query is spot on: Referencing his explosive early years with Ajax, culminating in a profile-raising Champions League season in 2018-19, Souness admitted that 'he was a star when he was a boy' but argued: 'Has he progressed since then?'
He's right, he hasnt progressed much. But he's definitely not a light-weight, and it also would be stupid to write him off at the age of 25
The only rap against de Ligt that I think is correct is his first step reaction time is too slow compared to elite CBs. That said, he does read the game very well and as long as his positioning is right, he can compensate for that. This is not a new issue, there were comments in scouting reports about this when he was set to leave Ajax
I think Van De Veen as a higher ceiling than De Ligt but having both paired on the next World Cup it should be considered a world class partnership. Then we also have so many back up options it’s not even funny .
Blind was a great contributor for Oranje NT despite his technical limitations and frustrating lack of speed (and health scare!) Nonetheless, a well-deserved retirement and congrats to him for such an illustrious career. His pinpoint long cross that led to the “Superman” Van Persie goal was definitely a forever-highlight for me.
What do you mean with technical limitations? I thought his technique was really okay. In some things even more than okay. Imho he should have been gone after euro 2020. He was a liability at the 2022 World Cup. Argentina exploited this. Basically anything after his heart-attack, as cruel as sport is.
On a personal level I obviously have nothing against Blind and wish him good health and good fortune in his future endeavors. As far as football for the Dutch NT goes, good riddance. His pass to van Persie vs Spain will always be an epic moment though. It’s absolutely insane that it takes him retiring in order to not be selected for the NT anymore. Smh. Anyway, cheers to moving on to better squad selections.
Yes, the same for me. It's just that euro 2020 should have been the end for him (he wasn't used as left-back there, F. de Boer thought those days were gone, but played CB in all games!). There was also the suspicion that his dad helped him at times but I don't know how true and fair that was.
Van Hecke got a 7 yesterday, and British media are predicting he'll be one of the top EPL defenders this season https://www.sussexexpress.co.uk/spo...ru-mitoma-dazzle-in-first-day-victory-4746366

AZ coach Maarten Martens is not happy with the reaction in the Netherlands to his defender Wouter Goes. The defender received a lot of criticism after the match against Almere City last Saturday about the way in which he tricked opponent Baptiste Guillaume into a red card.
Jordan Teze off to Monaco. Excellent chance to improve and show himself. His performances (4 caps so far) at Oranje have not been impressive, but he’s grown stronger lately. And he has a good balance between defense and offense.
112906 Sepp van den Berg has to choose between Brentford or Bayer Leverkusen. Liverpool agreed with them about the transferfee, 23-25 million.
