I follow Leeds United and have seen all their matches. Right now Struijk is the best option at LB of any of the current choices. van Gaal made a big mistake not taking him to Qatar and I hope Koeman brings him into the team.

I think you underestimate Bayern's alleged PED program

He's being signed until June to fill in for injured players. He won't be staying at Bayern past this summer. He will get eaten alive by Bundesliga wingers who are more talented than most in the Dutch league.

Maybe you should start a betting pool about how many matches Blind plays for Bayern.

He has been brought to provide cover for injured Hernandez who tore his ACL at the world cup.once he recovers I dont know what's in store for Blind.but I sincerely hope he won't be dragged with any more in NT. Time for malacia, bakker, meijers, Maatsen to come on board. Wijndal

I was kidding, O14. I thought that much was obvious.

Obviously you cannot send a pacemaker into overdrive.
    (or can you??)

Fine, but I dont see how any of these guys (Bakker, Meijers, Maatsen) could have done any better at the World Cup.

In fact, I think they would have done far worse!
    Blind was reasonably good!!

See Orange14’s post above. Call up Struijk and give playing time to him and Malacia.

His position on the first Argentina goal was poor and he has no recovery speed. Yes, it was a great through pass from Messi. A quicker LB might have been able to intervene

Admittedly I haven’t been able to catch Struijk as much as I wanted to… how would you rate/compare him against Malacia?Pros and cons?

And is Struijk a long-term Left Back, or is he going to eventually settle at (left) Center Back?

He's not as fast as Malacia but he is also bigger and stronger. He has to cover a lot of space because of the way Leeds has played both under Bielsa and now under Marsch. He has played as a CB and also as the LCB in a three man back line. He is a good passer of the ball and has good field awareness. He's a much better prospect than Bakker who is not as quick.

It is going to be interesting to see whether Koeman moves back to a 4-3-3 or sticks with the three man back line in some variation. I think Struijk has a role to play in the team.

  19. Maybe Koeman, who's known to have(had?) issues with LvGaal, will show him how it should habve been done by playing Malaca and Struijck vs France. We realy need speed demons in the bak line vs them.

You cant just say this. Look at noppert.cheap excuses.also look at enzo Fernandez and mac allister of Argentina. They just had minimum caps for Argentina before wc.

I hope to see Frimpong as RB, VVD/Ake (Timbers, Botman, De Ligt), Malacia/Struijk (and Dumfries). Speed is not enough. VVD/Ake has to play well to cover for them because none of Frimpong/Dumfries/Malacia/Struijk can contain Mbappe.

Mbappe pretty much always attacks from the French left side so it is the right side of the Dutch defense that will be tested. LB is not as big a concern.

The best option at LB is definitely Bakker. He should have played the world cup more than Struijk.

He is slower than Struijk and not as good a defender. He has a good cross but that's the extent of his game. He is not good enough for the NT, IMO.

This kind of debates are useless and nonsense tbh. Once again did any one expect noppert to start at WC. Struijk is not a natural LB but versatile defender. He has been rotated around.Bakker is doing good at Leverkusen and is a robust defender. Being said this only when they get the opportunity to play for NT can it be determined who is a NT material or not. My money is on Maatssen.other season or so.

Struijk is not fast and neither Bakker.
