Watch list Defenders Orange team

Discussion in 'The Netherlands' started by feyenoordsoccerfan, Oct 11, 2019.

  1. It's clear, from interviews and actions, Koeman sticks with the current crop of players to qualify and after that has been achieved new players will get the chance to fight their way in.

So the pruning/selecting starts after the last match on 19th of novembre 2019 20:45 Nederland - Estland.

A couple of months for the wannabees to lay down their claims for a spot on the list.

I guess by the time Koeman makes his choices Karsdorp will be back to complete fitness (atm not capable to go full out the whole 90 minutes), and maybe clarity about Ihattaren's destination.

Dumfries reaction to the Dest hype:

When one compares Dest physically to the main contenders for the back position one cannot overlook the fact that Dest simply is too small and lightweight for the back position. Most attackers of the countries that matter are bigger than he is.

  2. I'm going to create a watch list for each line in the team, so we can keep track of positions in one place.
Think it keeps things more tidy.
So go ahead and fill the thread with players, but please with reasons too!

What is the definition of “watch list”? A player who hasn’t been capped...?

Not trying to come across rude but isn't the thread for Dutch players to track across Europe essentially what these three threads are?

  6. Not rude, true question. The compartimentation is ment to focus on a particular set of players, that can be discussed within a thread without having to scroll through posts about attackers etc. The same applies to the other watch lists.

No, it's ment to concentrate the discussions for a certain line in the team in one thread, so it applies to all players fit for a certain line, in this case the defense.

Request to @Orange14 Could you move my post with the physical characteristics of the defenders in the Orange rebuild thread to here?

  7. I'm beginning to feel sorry for the rest of the football world when all the up coming Orange talents mature:D

  8. Why didnot de Ligt just try to head the ball????

Interesting considering Dest has looked out of his depth against any decent attacker.

Nope. He's way too old. We've got younger and more promising options getting ready.
Edit: In retrospect he might have been better off not playing for us and thus be able to play for Curaçao.

Edit 2: Oh wait. I completely misread your post.
He left very young to join an epl academy. From that moment on the feeling was another one lost to the epl graveyard of snatched talents. We never expected much of him anymore as those who left for the short term lure of epl money never reached the potential Dutch talents who stayed did.
So from that perspective as long as Dest stays in our development environment, he has a better chance than van Aanholt had.

I think by 'comp' TxEx meant comparison, not competition. I think PvA is a very good comparison to Dest to be honest, although I think the hype and prospect of PvA was even higher.

    This was my answer.

  12. :p
    I already discovered my mistake:thumbsup:

  13. Amsterdam paper about Ajax backs in the past:

    De markante rechtsbacks van Ajax
Maandag koos Sergiño Dest voor de Verenigde Staten. Zou hij daarbij goed hebben gekeken naar zijn voorgangers? Die schoten via De Toekomst in een rechte lijn omhoog naar Oranje, om niet veel later met gelijke vaart naar beneden te kukelen. Niets ten nadele van Gregory van der Wiel, Ricardo van Rhijn en Kenny Tete, maar ze werden nooit meer zo goed als ze in Amsterdam leken.

  14. Tete is only an option when you really want to lock the gate. He's superior defense wise to any back we have, but attacking wise he might not be on the pitch at all as well. That's why Koeman keeps him in the selection I guess.

  15. Wow.

Sepp van den Bergh with a start for Liverpool in the Cup match against Arsenal!!

  17. There's a huge difference between epl clubs in the past just swooping up our talents and then turn them into bonfire timber and Klopp, who has a high regard of Dutch football and the culture of it in tactical savvyness etc. He puts his money in at what he preaches.

    Woah sick!
    What about Ki-Jana Hoever?
Glad to see they're at least getting some chances.
