Unless Koeman changed his mind, Brobbey starts against Germany.
Let's see how he fares with a class midfield to feed him.
At least he can now play with his face towards the goal and hopefully use his speed, in contrast with his Ajax play with his face away from the opponent's goal and his butt against a defender, because I don't think that will work against the like of Rüdiger.

  3. In the footy show Studio Voetbal van der Vaart and Theo Jansen question the tactical choices Koeman made by letting Zirkzee start against Bosnia and chosing Brobbey to start against Germany.

Rafael van der Vaart and Theo Janssen wonder whether Ronald Koeman would be wise to start Brian Brobbey against Germany. According to the analysts, it would have been better if Brobbey played against Bosnia-Herzegovina and Joshua Zirkzee against Germany. Moreover, the latter scored a goal against Bosnia-Herzegovina and substitute Wout Weghorst did the same. The pressure on Brobbey's shoulders is therefore great.

"I had actually hoped that he (Koeman, ed.) did it the other way around," says Janssen at the table at Studio Voetbal. "Rüdiger likes to play against a player who seeks him out, against whom he can fight duels. Zirkzee is a player who is constantly leaving the striker position. Rüdiger has a harder time with that. I don't quite understand the choice." Brobbey will get the chance to show himself against Germany, but Van der Vaart says it will be a tough task for the Ajax striker. "Zirkzee plays and scores a goal. Then another striker (Weghorst, ed.) comes in and he also scores a goal. Then you have to play against Germany. You also put a lot of pressure on Brobbey. I think he can deal with that and in top form he's a really good striker."

    Koeman's mistake?
Van der Vaart thinks that Brobbey will have to prove himself now that Zirkzee has delivered an excellent performance. According to the football analyst, Koeman should not have made a promise to Brobbey prior to the international matches. "I would have just maintained Zirkzee.
It clicks at the moment. But if you say it in advance, you can't go back on it
    ."

Zirkzee did pretty well overall today.... Looks like he's settling in and getting more comfortable. Seemed more involved than in his previous 2-3 games. Linked up well with his teammates and showed his vision with smart passes on several occasions. On the downside, he missed two big opportunities -- the second one was glorious as he had the GK dived the wrong way. He got into great positions, just need to bury those chances!!

Gakpo came on in the 60th minute and did absolutely nothing.
I wonder if he's okay with a bench role, or that he'll demand to be sold/loaned.
    Probably the latter

It was a great block by the defender.
Zirkzee will be excellent if his movement is reciprocated by the overrated Rashford and the selfish Bruno Fernandes who are the biggest problems for Eric Ten Hag.
Rashford doesn’t work hard enough to take advantage of the spaces that Zirkzee creates with his superior dynamic movement.

Ruben van Bommel is developing very fast into a lethal striker.

Just watched the highlight. Two well-taken goals, unlucky not to get the third. And probably could have had a couple assists as well with better finishing from his teammates. With this fast development, he will be wearing Oranje Senior shirt soon (already regular in JO).

Gakpo opened his scoring account for the season… netted two late goals in Liverpool’s 5-1 win in EFL Cup. MOTM in FotMob.

Remember Myron Boadu? He's now at Bochum who went up 0-2 at Dortmund tonight. He made a great run, receiving a pass in stride and in on the GK for what should have been a sure goal and his team would be up by three goals. Alas, he shot wide and Dortmund were off the hook and came back to win it 4-2. History of Boadu's career encapsulated in that play.

Been watching few bochums games. I think he scored last week or the previous week. Nothing has changed though from his time at Monaco. Usually tap in goals. He is a very down grade of brobbey from physical perspective. He tries to shield the ball but is overpowered. Awareness and positioning are is better strengths. Still 22 though.

What do you guys think of lammers?

Could watch Memphis in the Brasilian competition yesterday. Started to take a look around minute 20 or so ...and stopped watching after 5 minutes.
Man, what a shit level that was, not only from his own team, but also from their opponent.

Memphis Depay has been dismissed too quickly by football-loving Holland after his mediocre European Championship and his transfer to Brazil. That's what Sjoerd Mossou concludes after seeing the struggling by Joshua Zirkzee and Brian Brobbey during this international period.
Memphis Depay will soon be back in the Dutch national team?
"I understand that based on the games we've seen in Brazil. It's not that he has to get back into the Dutch national team right away, but you can see now that a good Memphis is still better than where these guys are at the moment," Mossou said in Voetbalpraat on ESPN
    .

    Moron.
Memphis has been awol, even worse, a liability on the pitch not only in the Euro2024 campaign, but long before that with it seems the only goal of self glorification of taking the crown of Orange Topscorer from Robin van Persie, a player Memphis quality wise doesnot touch higher than Robin's ankles.
Mossou talks about this two matches, but was over the moon with the two matches before this weekend:rolleyes:
I havenot seen ten matches in a row in which MD even touched Brobbey's and Zirkzee's performance level of this weekend.
So what dafok are you shithead pooping about?
So if MD is better, then why didnot an epl club jump in to sign him up on a free transfer.
These football journalists increasingly are taking on the attitude of a upload_2024-10-18_15-34-16.jpeg

Nice!! But shouldn’t this posted in the “Midfielders” thread? Lol :p:p Stop giving Koeman idea that Xavi is an attacker… Xavi really needs to do his damage from the attacking midfield area

Zirkee anticipation only on the inner passes is fast becoming a nightmare for him. He doesn’t anticipate or latches on the outer crosses which a typical striker shud do and including both by positioning themself in better positions. Hope you can get the picture here. He always stops deep meaning behind anticipating lay back passes when wingers reach edges of the box. On typical outer crosses he is ball watching. Vs Germany this happened twice. Boadu is good in this. His positioning is always clinical. Only downfall for him is he is lightweight and has very low skill set

Brobbey turning into a joke of a striker.

Against Heracles, Perez was once again amazed by Ajax's starting striker. "Brobbey has had his chances. It doesn't matter if you get those chances in the 6th minute or the 86th minute. The opportunities he misses make me wonder if he's learning. He may have calmed down a bit, but that early chance against Heracles was so easy. His foot is completely open, technically it's so badly executed.'

It's time our Cowboy/man comes to his senses and starts selecting attackers/strikers who really make progress, like Sem Stein and Ruben van Bommel.
