The Spirit will have a hard time replacing her for 2015, but I think Canada will have an even harder time. They're out of the FIFA Top 10 ranking anyway with this pair of results, and with DMath gone and Sinc getting old, I would not be surprised if they miss the quarterfinals again this WWC.
I didnt see it...was it a contact injury or just one of those Turf things where the cleats stick and the knee buckles?
She hopes to be back in time for the 2015 Women’s World Cup: http://o.canada.com/sports/soccer/c...eson-out-indefinitely-with-torn-knee-ligament The second one
Of course she'll say she hopes to be back in time for the WWC, but for her own sake, I hope she doesn't try to rush her rehab, especially with the fact that somewhat of a repeat injury.
I went when she planted...very sad. The Spirit at least had plans to replace her for half a season so theyll just have to stretch that out. It will be very tough to replace her scoring.
Well it's a close thing whether she could complete her rehab in 8 months but regardless it's hard to see her missing all that time and being anywhere near effective.
After watching MacMillan limp around in 03 after she rushed her ACL recovery to try and make the roster, I don't want to see the same thing happen to Matheson. Yes, it's really crappy timing for her, but I'd rather see her healthy going forward than risk ending her career prematurely by rushing her rehab.
I agree but at her age she is probably thinking she wont get another shot not even mentioning playing WC at home.
According to the equalizer article she had similar surgery in Nov 2011 and made it back for the Olympics.
Yeah but I don't think it was ACL back then, and the WWC is going to be sooner than the Olympics were. Not by much, but still, it's injury recovery, every week counts.
DMath get well sooooon! How do you replace a Diana Matheson? Great Scorer, Fun to Watch, Leaves it on the Field, Great story for younger girls, Wonderful Teammate and Person!!!! You can't replace her, she is one of a kind! MidField~Perez, Averbach, Nairn, Huster, GareFrekes Newly acquired~ Lohman, Salem, DaCosta Keep your eye on Amanda! There are is enough talent here to win. Parsons is going to have to find the right combination. With this group I go 4-2-3-1. I'm hoping Jodie returns with Weimer and Miller ready to go. If not search the world for a world-class scorer! Good Luck!
They did ask her at the end of the season what she thought of the league. She said she enjoyed it very much tho the style was different and that she would like to return. Hopefully she does...she adds a lot in my opinion. Very profession, very disciplined.
USSF clarification on Ashlyn Harris: Had surgery on pinky finger toward end of 2014 (not broken hand, as Ellis said), now 100% fit to play.— Jeff Kassouf (@JeffKassouf) January 26, 2015 U.S. Soccer tells me Ashlyn Harris is fine now and did fully participate in recent three-week #USWNT camp. Harris broke her pinky finger.— Caitlin Murray (@caitlinmurr) January 26, 2015
Damn... T_T http://equalizersoccer.com/2015/03/06/harding-denied-visa-wont-join-spirit-in-2015/ I was looking forward to seeing how she would fit in...
This is really quite strange. Is there any other woso player in recent years that have been denied a visa? This appears quite random. I especially feel for her because she was quite vocal on social media about her excitement in joining the Spirit

Based on the USWNT playing time, there is a real chance that Crystal Dunn will be plaing with the Spirit full-time this year and may not make the NT roster. I have heard she is doing well in camp but for some reason she can't break the top five at OB.
