Yes, yes, this is a DCU chat board, but tis a worthy cause, and the Washington Freedom will be guest bartending!

On Thursday, February 27th, from 5:30 to 8:30 at our new place R.F.D., we will host the Washington Freedom as guest bartenders to help raise money for Children's Hospital! There is no cover charge for this COOL event! C'mon down, meet the team and help the cause! All tips collected during the teams guest appearance goes directly to helping the kids! I suggest you get there early, the place is huge but it will be packed! They will bring some incredible items to auction off for the cause as well, these ladies are KICKIN! Hopefully not the beer glasses! I have no idea how we're going to fit 20 soccer players behind the bar (in shifts?) but nonetheless applications for referee are NOT being accepted.
    C'mon DOWN!
30 yummy taps, 300 beers and just plain DELICIOUS food!\
And the BEST womens soccer team on EARTH!!!!!!

i hope no one on this board attends this. while i support the freedom and raising funds, RFD is owned by the same folks that own the brickskeller. please remember the horrible way the BS crowd was treated there the nite we tried to have happy hour there.

The Post review of this place said service was an issue with many and like at the Brick you should have a back up to your beer order as they might not have your first choice (or second, or third...)

It's strange the Freedom is doing this as I thought the bulk of their supporters were under 21. I've also heard that they're doing some sort of "Tupperware" type party where their VIP level ticket holders get a player to their house and the person invites friends to meet them and hopefully sell some tickets (setting the women's movement back 100 years).

    death to the brick....

WUSA deserves to stay a league, and I support womens sports, but unforunately it is very difficult to keep a womens league going and apart from the WNBA, this country is not ready for womens sports. Sad but true.

The country is ready for women's sports, just not of the poor quality of the WNBA and WUSA.

They do this 2 or 3 times a year. Contrary to the myth, a large portion of their fans are adults and this is a reach-out to fans like us. These are great events, no autograph-hunting zombies and the like so you can actually talk to the team like normal people similar to some DCU events.

and a note to tweaked as a newbie - some people are pretty sensitive about cross promoting Freedom events on this board, there is a Freedom board as well (which you didn't post this to oddly enough, someone else linked this thread there). I'm as big a Freedom supporter as there is but I try to keep it clear of here (as I should), so be judicious when cross-promoting.
