To put it even stronger: Maradona should have been way superior in the (DBSCalcio) ratings rather than narrowly 'beaten' by an ageing Krol.

As many will know, Berlusconi his dream was a Harlem Globetrotters show team.

Eventually he accepted that you first need sporting excellence but initially he didn't want Rijkaard in his team. He clearly wanted the Argentine (!!) Claudio Borghi.

For financial, commercial and marketing reasons, what connected to the Italian and (after reaching a critical mass) World public. Sacchi persisted though and got Rijkaard (though he had to wait a full year before he was avalaible).

Also Van Basten (with a limited transfer clause) was not by definition Berlusconi and Galliani their first choice, but Sacchi also insisted here. Berlusconi was only convinced after a few videos and visit to a Oranje game.

Berlusconi his initial preference was for Careca or the 'Welsh Wizard' ('Welsh Weirdo'?) Ian Rush, but technical director Braida talked him out of that idea. Careca was too expensive anyway.

It was merely Gullit who was a clear-cut first choice for Berlusconi. No doubt about this for me. Gullit was the golden trophy for Berlusconi.

Later on the idea developed nonetheless (though not decisive) that Milan had to diversify in faces and create two equally strong teams, that both could make a show and both win the European Cup. You can think it didn't work that well, and it became less and less a show.

Anyway, all the dishonesty and pretension here doesn't deserve my presence so I am out (from time to time I will pop up and submerge to make some jibes against "The Voice of Football" - that is what World Soccer think of themselves- type of people, the Cox malicious poindexters, and self-styled "the complete historians" collussion).

Goodbye, and let's hope the anglosaxon advantage moves to USA as soon as possible because the EPL is really destroying our football (the UK as a whole sinking further doesn't need 'hope').

Now also cheating their way to Olympic medals, with the SAS and police forces present in France... invited by France themselves yes, but they aren't only there for security I can tell you. They are the new Argentina indeed, with likewise deceiving media and clearly hateful (football) books and media about us (whenever they cover us). In the modern world it is commercially and politically silly to make of Germany, for example, the bad guys.

Interesting analysis is on the GameofGoals site for that game I see - Puskas, Hidegkuti and Bozsik all getting 7.5 (that rating from Italians is generally seen as very good as you'll be aware already):
    HUNGARY REPORT CARDS
THE BEST PUSKAS 7,5 He plays as an attacking midfielder, almost as a midfielder, reiterating – compared to the Madrid period in which he is in fact a striker and that's it – that he has a very complete technical background. He never throws the ball away and shows sagacity and intelligence in managing the game. He deserves the palm of the best basically for those two plays of pure genius on the first and fourth goals, confirming that he has a pure class of the same dough as the South American trio Pelé-Maradona-Messi. He was also very good at starting the action of another Hungarian goal, that of Sandor.
Hidegkuti 7,5 Same grade and performance similar to that of Puskas. Both act as offensive playmakers behind Kocsis and both have a hand in 3 out of 4 Hungarian goals: Hidegkuti finds the second goal with a diagonal on the Colonel's imaginative assist; then he volleys to Sandor for the third goal and in the last it is he who gives the ball that Puskas transforms into a sumptuous assist for Kocsis. Compared to Puskas he moves perhaps even more, but he is less lucid in some choices and makes a few too many mistakes.
Bozsik 7,5 Proof of great solidity and class. His first goal, on a clear mess by Scottish goalkeeper Martin. He rises in blows during the match dictating the tempo, recovering balls, entering the goal area and coming close to a personal encore. Midfielder of extraordinary completeness.

For comparison, the England game at Wembley in 1953, for those 3 players (also the ones given 7.5 or more for that game):
THE BEST PUSKAS 8,5: he plays practically all over the field and is unmarkable: he initiates several actions, finishes them and finishes them, always sowing panic in the English defense. The two goals are splendid: the first, with the feint that disorients Wright and strikes Merrick, is a concentrate of technique and genius; the second, with a backheel on Bozsik's shot, is pure cunning. Even more fabulous was the assist for the 6-2, a very soft left-footed lob that cut out the English defense and found Hidegkuti at the far post, ready for the winning shot.
Hidegkuti 8,5: ready-go and it's already a goal, with a terrifying right-footed shot that goes out in the "seven". He is the engine, the offensive playmaker of every Hungarian action. With Puskas he gives life to triangulations of pure football ecstasy. He drives the poor English stopper Johnson crazy and silences the 100 thousand of the Empire Stadium with a fairytale hat-trick.
Bozsik 7,5: goals aside, he is the absolute dominator of the midfield. A complete player, not only a ball-recovering midfielder, but also a fine speaker, he is the conductor of the splendid Hungarian goal machine. If Puskas and Hidegkuti end up on the cover, he has much of the credit. Deus ex machina.

Not to overlook the performances of others; Kocsis and Czibor in particular, in that team (I know you don't), including in passing/creating, such as in these games:

and honestly with Pelé ... Messi ...Cruyff it could for sure to draw . !

I'd forgotten to add the links for that GameofGoals site!
    1954: Scozia-Ungheria 2-4 - Game of Goals
    1953 Inghilterra-Ungheria 3-6 - Game of Goals

Anyway, some other interesting ones perhaps...
    1989 Finale: Milan-Steaua Bucarest 4-0 - Game of Goals
THE BEST GULLIT 8,5: thank goodness he didn't get to this final at his best... He plays a huge match, in terms of strength, speed and energy. He opens the dance with a robbery goal, drives the Romanian defense crazy with devastating percussions, takes a post and sublimates a masterpiece match with a beautiful goal for coordination and timing. Hurricane.
Van Basten 8: half a step below his attacking partner, but still the architect of a capital game for elegance and incisiveness. He scores a splendid goal with his head, finds the encore with a diagonal on the surface of the grass and paired with Gullit gives life to fantastic plays.
Maldini 8: paraphrasing what Fulvio Bernardini said about the Brazilian winger Julinho "a full-back can reach Maldini, no further". Stratospheric performance: he closes and restarts with a unique punctuality, enters without the ball, systematically plays in advance of anyone who happens to be within range and does not miss an intervention.
Donadoni 8: another key to triumph. A refined and technical player, but also endowed with extraordinary humility. He works behind the scenes and when he can he becomes a protagonist, moving indifferently well on both sides of the pitch: he touches an infinite number of balls, serves Gullit for the 3-0 and in the second half he is the most dangerous Rossoneri.
Rijkaard 8: he rises along the way and he too enrolls in the register of absolute protagonists. Splendid the throw that sends Van Basten on goal for the four, he deserves the goal for his consistency, grit and temperament.
Baresi 7,5: always present and effective when called upon. It's difficult to get away from him in one-on-one, he combines substance, charisma and excellent sense of position. Sometimes he is also the first director of the maneuver with long-range throws.
(I thought you would like to see the translation for that one!)
    1989-1990: Real Madrid-Barcellona 3-2 - Game of Goals
    THE BEST: Emilio Butragueño 8
The impression is that posterity does not always recognize all Buitre's merits: the Spanish player moves between the lines with surprising speed and intelligence, technically shows off a Divine Codino repertoire, aims at the goal like David Villa and sows panic with the ball at his feet. The high grade is also the result of the 2-0 goal, scored with an opportunistic shot, and the personal action at speed from which the 3-0 penalty arises.

Bernd Schuster 7.5: masterclass by Mr. genius and Teutonic recklessness. In the first half Bernd teaches football: he does not lose a ball and indeed snatches it on three occasions cleanly from the opponents, and the reporter always mentions him because he is always in the thick of the action. Some pirlesque openings are to be applauded. In the second half he drops a bit but remains a positive protagonist of the challenge.
    THE BEST: Michael Laudrup 8
Cinematic performance by the Danish champion, who really lacks only the icing on the cake (the goal): a constant danger for the Madrileños, he flies in a dozen spectacular solos with the ball glued between his feet, invents a couple of iniestate ante litteram for his teammates, and until the ninetieth he jumps the man, always, repeatedly, without giving respite. Right winger, left winger, fake nine, midfielder, Michael looks like a cross between Cruijff and Don Andrés and gives his fans a memorable match.

Julio Salinas 7,5: the center forward, a sort of ante litteram clone of Morata, flatly denies the theory that coaches must limit themselves to not doing damage. In the first outings with Johann he had seemed technically inadequate, slow and only able to assert himself in the shots, thanks to his imposing physique. In the Clasicos of Cruijff's second season on the bench he showed that he had become a real player: the vote was a reward for the two goals as a pure center forward, the first with a header and the second with a lethal left foot, but Julio was also good with the ball at his feet and moved on the entire offensive front for ninety minutes.
(One of the recent additions that they have studied and assessed)

And since this is the Maradona thread, perhaps I should add some of his games!
    1987 Finale 3°-4° posto: Argentina-Colombia 1-2 - Game of Goals
Maradona 6,5 After a somewhat opaque first half in which he also devoured a goal, in the second half he took over the operations on the third and served several inviting balls to his teammates. Which, however, most of the time they waste. He closes a good Copa América on a personal level, even if he perhaps lacked the extra flicker in the climax.
Valderrama 7 In the first half it is a puzzle for Argentina, he appears and disappears in various areas of the field and inspires his teammates with brilliant touches: with one of these he sends Galeano on goal for an encore. In the second half he goes out of the game a bit.
(For an example to show he wasn't always the top player in the big games necessarily)
    1980 Inghilterra-Argentina 3-1 - Game of Goals
THE BEST KEEGAN 7: numbers of high technical content, he gives a show throughout the match and closes the accounts with the wonderful 3-1 goal. He would be the best man on the field: too bad that an absolute phenomenon plays in Argentina
THE BEST MARADONA 8: he has not yet turned 20 and yet he already shows that he has the trappings of the absolute champion. Scorching accelerations, openings, brilliant assists. Unstoppable and uncatchable with the ball at his feet, he repeatedly brought the English defenders to their knees and got a penalty with one of the many, sublime, plays of his match. In this match he demonstrates the reason for two consecutive South American Ballon d'Or awards in '79 and '80 and why several insiders in Argentina have complained about his not being called up to the '78 World Cup.
(For an example to show that as a young player he could be the best and most eye-catching player on the field even in a defeat)

Ah, ok, I understand what you mean now mate. You feel like many of the ratings they derive from the data don't align with your viewpoint. Yes, I guess it can happen that we all would give some different ratings, and that any formula can even give some results that individuals at Sofascore might not fully agree with. Sometimes I would be giving lower scores for some strikers that get close to 10 when they score multiple goals I think for example. But in the end it depends on the formula they had decided upon.

At first I wondered if you meant you thought there were some errors in the data (wrong numbers of passes or tackles or interceptions or saves or shots off target etc....of course with things like dribbles it will be hard to be sure what will be accepted and what will not in any case).
