The strike's finally over and Jonny should start between the pipes for Catolica. Game is scheduled to be shown on FSWE.

Catolica dominated play and deserved the win. Temuco only had 6 shots total (2 on goal) and played 10 men down the last 15' or so of the game.

Their lone Temuca score came on a long ball into the penalty box after their man was sent off. The UC defense left a man open on a diagonal run to go in on goal. Jonny cut off the angle and "got as wide as possible" to protect the goal, but the man tried to drive it behind him (inside the far post) from ten yards or so. Walker got his left hand on the shot, but could not control the rebound and another unmarked attacker grabbed the loose ball at the back post and put it in. Hard to blame Walker for it.

A couple of other quick comments about Walker's play. He wasn't really tested today, so its hard to draw any new conclusions about his play, especially with respect to hands, positioning and command of the box. However, he did do a good job of distributing the ball quickly when he received it and started several good counterattacks with accurate 20-40 yard throws or passes. He looks reasonably comfortable using his feet to control balls played to him, but he rarely cleared midfield with any of his goal kicks. IIRC, UC defenders took the goal kicks for him during the Apertura games a few months ago (at the time, I assumed that he might have had a hamstring injury). Today's short kicks could have been by design, rather than due to injury or poor kicking skills.

Don't know. They were competing to be one of the two Chilean squads to play in the new Copa Sudamericana this fall (televised on FSWE; the winner plays the '02 Libertadores champion, Olimpia, in a recopa in December), but, IIRC, they were beaten in the qualifier last month. Not sure what they'll do about the '03 Libertadores.
