I was checking out some of the fans of Wales on BBC posts and I thought some of you guys might want to read. USA Game - Very Disappointing Gareth Brace - 1st post - 17 May 2003 12:29 I was very much looking forward to the USA game but now I have seen how many of our players are not making the trip I cannot see much of a point in having the game at all. I considered this to be an excellant chance to beat another team in the top ten, move up the rankings, add to our unbeaten run and continue the positivity of the team. There was also the added bonus of promoting Wales as a country in environment where most of the inhabitants think the whole island of the cost of France is called "England" ! (Saw this on CNN the other day !) It's good that we will blood some new players and see what the rest of the squad could do, but do we have to go all the way to the USA for this ? Why not play a European team ? Obviously I still want Wales to win and I see that as the only positive outcome. A good training match for the squad ahead of their Euro games would also have been positive whatever the result, but most of the team to face S&M will not be there. Good luck to the boys who are going, but in my heart I feel we are going to get a beating which we will learn nothing from.... re: USA Game - Very Disappointing Andy Drumm - 4th post - 17 May 2003 14:52 You are absolutely right what a shame we are about to throw away our record to a team and a fan base that has no appreciation of football. Kasey Keller ruled out of USA game Dave B - 4th post - 16 May 2003 16:31 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/t/tottenham_hotspur/3029841. stm Some good news I guess. Lets hope Brad Friedel gets injured now. [reply] [Alert A Moderator] re: Kasey Keller ruled out of USA game Andy Drumm - 2nd post - 17 May 2003 02:14 With the team that Wales is sending, its almost a waste of time. I really wanted us to win this game, but now it'll be like a third division side against a weak premier league side. Not good odds. * those are a few that I found, if there is intrest of me printing more then tell me and I gladly will.* -Emiliano Go U.S.
I love how he says: "we will blood some new players" Curious, does anybody know how exactly that phrase came about?
Thanks for posting these. It's always nice to see what other folks are saying about us. First of all, it's a strange feeling hearing that some of their fans think that we're going to hand it to them. Second, do they realize that we too will send a B or C team? Sure, there will be some first teamers like Donovan and Convey, but overall our side will be very experimental, with folks like Quaranta, Ching, and Corrales getting the call.
I know I have printed alot already but I have to show you guys this and then I'll try to shut up for a while. Here are some other Wales' fan's posts Wales Reserves!!! D. W. - 116th post - 16 May 2003 16:04 Good old FAW. eh! The intellectual titans screw up again. Thanks to their usual incompetence, we're taking a reserve team (if you can call it that) to the USA friendly. (...and England complain about the possible loss of Rooney)! Sais, you don't know you're born! [reply] [Alert A Moderator] re: Wales Reserves!!! The Blues - 201st post - 16 May 2003 16:28 It's a bit of a shame that Wales aren't taking their full team. I can't understand why they aren't doing it. Twll dun pob sais [reply] [Alert A Moderator] re: Wales Reserves!!! Rob Williams - 103rd post - 16 May 2003 22:00 When we get a result there let all the doubters of the depth of the welsh squad be amazed because sparky will get a result with them boyz we will still do well with div 2 and 3 players lets hope Koumas turns up and plays a blinder. [reply] [Alert A Moderator] re: Wales Reserves!!! Mark Doherty - 1st post - 19 May 2003 21:11 You might be in luck because the USA has to play in the Confederations cup in France during June. They have to play New Zealand,Brazil and Turkey. So they might not be that interested. The game is being broadcast live across the USA. [reply] [Alert A Moderator] re: Wales Reserves!!! Emiliano Flores - 1st post - 19 May 2003 22:01 Your kidding right or at least so in love with your team and therefore making a strong case for the statement, "love is blind." The Americans are no longer going to be a push over and on the 26th if the Americans shutout Wales with less then a three goal margin, then I would consider it a gift. Do yourself a favor and don't put any money on the game. Go US [reply] [Alert A Moderator] re: Wales Reserves!!! D. W. - 117th post - 17 May 2003 11:13 I hope you're right Rob...there are some good boys sprinkled through the various divisions (and a few outside too), but they're not used to playing together, and some have no International experience. I'm all for giving absolutely everyone a chance, but not all at the same time! You can evaluate individuals more accurately, when they're mixed through with the more experienced players. *Did you all catch my comment..... I just couldn't help my self * -Emiliano Go U.S. Anyway, let's hope that we unearth a couple of unexpected gems! Come on Wales... [reply] [Alert A Moderator]

Re: Re: Wales' fans not too happy with lineup!! that comes from the classic Stallone movie "First Blood" which was part of the Rambo trillogy.
Re: Re: Re: Wales' fans not too happy with lineup!! I was thinking the scene in Red Dawn where C. Thomas Howell & gang have to drink the deer's blood after he dropped that doe. It was patrick swayze's idea as initiation into the Wolverines.
Re: Re: Wales' fans not too happy with lineup!! Comes from hunting with dogs. The OED provides this definition Okay, now I'm really depressed by the fact that I didn't even try to be funny.
I mean, I know the US doesn't suck anymore in World Soccer, but seeing Welshmen talk about our Nats as a "Top Ten" team... it seems.... surreal.
Re: Re: Re: Wales' fans not too happy with lineup!! to chip in a bit more, apparently if someone is out on their first hunt and a fox is caught and killed (well the killed part goes without saying, the hounds aren't just going to catch the fox and tease it and call it names) then the blood of the fox is then smeared on the cheeks of the newbie, to blood them, as a way of initiation. I suppose if Vinny Jones was still playing for the Welsh team he'd be able to carry on this tradition after launching into a few of his famously 'committed' tackles. ps if anyone's going to the game and you want to annoy the welsh fans, just ask them where abouts in England is Wales (then stand well back and watch them explode like a firework, but perhaps not as pretty - well you won't all be standing round going "wooooh" and "aaaaaah" anyway)
I just love it how they have to make excuses before the match even happens. Guess what, both coaches are taking reserve teams. oh well, they only comment on what they hear, they should do their homework before they complain about how they are going to lose because their team is bad.
I recall when Veron had to ask Giggs where Wales was before a Wales-Argentina friendly, then was surprised to find out that Giggsy played for Wales. Western Hemisphere geographical knowledge...
Hell, I'm pissed too. Certainly had Wales brought a better group, we would have done so as well and had a better game. Do you think this game would have ever been scheduled in the first place if we had known that Giggs, etc. would not be playing? I seriously doubt it... But as soon as the friendly was announced, I waited for the inevitable other shoe to drop...hey, we're suckers, what can I say?
