New England just put three guys on waivers. Who do you think the Rapids will waive?

More importantly, what useless player will Hanki pick up off waivers this year? Last year it was the Sleethstack.

    three dropped

    The Rapids waived three,

    Michael Piserchio, defender, developmental

    Alberto Rizo, defender, TI/discovery

    William Sleeth, defender

Info provided by 3rd Degree over on the Dallas Board.

Well, Rizo is on waivers. This is not surprising considering the Hank/Counce record with their TI/discovery picks.

And Sleeth, man he either sucks (waived twice in two years) or he's the unluckiest guy in the league (injury plagued).

I confused about Piserchio, since he's a developmental player and doesn't count toward the 18 man roster. Why waive him?

Because developmental contracts are only good for one year at a time, and teams are limited to 6 DPs on the roster. Before the team can pick up any new DPs (which now includes P40s) they first need to waive existing ones.

This was probably done more as a courtesy to Piserchio than anything else -- i.e. waive him now rather let him hang on for the next few months.

Not to mention he would have counted as an SI this year.
