    Sommer in the draft.

    Kramer (Col.) in the draft.

I know there was talk about sending Presthus to Colorado. With Sommer in the draft, this seems unlikely.

Also, Titus is in the draft. Someone on the boards mentioned bringing him in. Isn't he Canadian? Does he have a green card? I don't think so. But he's better than McCardme. Maybe if Cardme matures he would be valuable, but not now.

Still, there doesn't seem to be anyone intruiguing in the waiver draft.

I definitely think picking up Chronopolous wouldnt hurt. What about picking up U-20 national team player Miguel Saavedra from the Fire? I dont think that would be a bad thing.

Miguel Saavedra wouldn't hurt the Crew still have one developmental slot open. However, I don't see the Crew going after Titus or they would have waived someone to make room for him. Nobody was waived, no Titus.

By the way what does this mean? Are the Crew looking to trade Perez or are they going to keep him around. If they are looking to Trade him, I don't see anyone that has the room for a high salary SI. One other thing last year with all the GC talk Perez's name was in that too. If he gets his GC do the Crew keep him? I wouldn't, but............

I don't want Chrono or Villegas. Villegas isgoin homefrom what I hear and Rico Suave Chrono is just washed up.

Villegas is only going home if MLS lets him go on loan. Why not pick him up, see what he can do. We aren't obligated to him until the roster deadline in March or something. West is all we have on the right side and I'd rather have Villegas.

I don't think Chronopolous is washed up.

the thing about chronopolous is we're OK on the left now. garcia, denton, torres. denton's your swing man in case freddy's hurt or on call for the guats.

villegas has always been a horribly inconsistent player. 5 or 10 minutes out of a game he'll play sublime soccer. perfect crosses, great corners. the rest of the time you wonder where he is. west and buddle aren't wide mids, but they certainly bring something to the table, and, most important, you know what you're getting. with villegas you don't. i wouldn't take him.

one player i might be interested in the waiver draft is raul palacios. he worked well with wes hart in the middle of the season in the rapids 4-5-1. if greg swiches to a 3-5-2 -- not to say he will, but our midfield was the most formless third of the field this year -- palacios could fit into a two d-mids scheme. if mais gets hurt, dunc's out for NZ, etc, raul could do well.

I wouldn't mind seeing us give Titus a chance. If he can't cut it, wewaive his ass in the preseason. Nobody else here really interests me.
It suprises me most though that the Crew did not waive Perez or Presthus. I really don't see either fetching much in a trade due to salary. Is there another waiver deadline before preseason starts or is the Crew just goin on into preseason with what they have?

There is a simple way to fix this problem, but Andrulis refuses to bench Maissennouve and start Martino or Perez. Things happen when Martino plays and Perez nearly always came up with a goal or an assist during his limited minutes. We don't need another player who'll take a back seat to Mais.

I have to agree with Scott on Villegas and Chronopoulos. Both are players that on the face of it have potential, but have never really developed into consistent performers. They have individual, physical skills, but lack the subtleties of the game to take to the next level. Both can fill out a roster, but don't offer any improvement over current players.

Titus also is not a dramatic improvement and is a SI. Other than the keepers there is not much of interest.

Scott we will just have to agree to disagree on Mais as a wide midfielder. I still believe he play his best soccer as a wide midfielder on the Olympic Team. In a four man field it is, IMHO clearly his best position, although he did get Warzycha disease and drift into central midfield this year when he was put out wide.

I also think Buddle can continue to do well there as well. He played at right midfield in the A League prior to coming to Columbus, although I look forward to his permanent place up top.

Interesting that both Sleeth and Gonzalez were first round picks IN 2002.

It seems odd to give up that quickly on your first round pick.

salary cap issues I'm sure. First round draft picks get paid so much more than the rest of the players drafted in the lower rounds.

    Like 500 bucks more.

I don't get the fascination with Titus on here. I thought he was a big, physical, hack. Very little foot skills and certainly NOT close to T-bone (AHHH....T-Bone) in skills or attitude.

AM I missing something? Does anyone see Titus as an improvement over our current roster?

I agree completely and thank you for saying it.

I know I can be a tad grouchy but I'm tired of seeing stuff along the lines of "Hey, we ought to get, like, Bocanegra or Titus or somebody like that, man" as if there was the slightest comparison.

We've all grown to know and love Chad McCarty around these parts, but dear old Chad is not exactly Paolo Maldini.

He is what he is, and maybe there's a place for that hard-nosed, on-your-face, kick-em-in-the-nuts kinda guy on our back line. God knows we've seen way too many Crew defenders who looked like they were trying to win the Lady Bing.

But stacking a Titus and a CJ Brown back there with him isn't setting a defense; it's arranging a steel-cage match.
