Ramon Nunez, but I suppose he's been waived because his salary is high. That's why we're waiving Pavon, of course - we probably still want him, but at a lower price. No one will pick up any of our guys.

Nunez and Perez would be decent additions to our team.

I forget how it works, but I think they are 'waived' but if they aren't picked up off of the waivers list by another team, they stay with their current team under their current contract. If they were out of contract, they wouldn't be waived, they'd simply be available to anyone.

    I think.

I think that we should take a look at New Englands Chris Loftus he is a 6'5" forward could be nice to bounce balls off of his head.

And, more importantly, do we get to leave them there?

I think asap a player is waived he's off the salarylist aswell as the roster - but that probably doesn't count for such things like that overseas friendly game, but only MLS competitions I guess.

BIG OLE that we're waiving Pavon - but too bad we lost Glinton.... and indeed Passbackpete shoulg go aswell.

Pete's the kid who lived down the street that no one liked but you were forced to play with because your mom knew his mom and no one else would play with him. He just won't go away!!!!!

Laurent Merlin. Surprisingly, in limited minutes, he generated more goals off of drawing fouls than any other player in the league. (That was actually a stat I came up with as part of the "Moneyball in MLS" discussion in MLS N&A a while back.) And besides, he was at OUR open tryout.

If we somehow unload Pavon and Vagenas, that would be a load taken off the salary cap's shoulders. Too bad the other teams aren't gullible enough to pick them up - the other guys on the list have a better but still slim chance. Anyone know how much time is left on both Pete and Carlos' contracts?

I think that as long as Lalas is the GM, Pete Vagenas isn't going anywhere....they're buddies!!

    Could this work?

    --------------Cannon/Cronin-------------

    Albright---Xavier/Harden---Nat Borchers/Roberts--Randolph

    Klein---Beckham---Mathis---Ramon Nunez

    -------
    Sesay/Carlos Ruiz---Donovan----

    BOLD indicates new pickups.

X, Harden, Roberts, and Borchers trade off in the central backline to keep players fresh and rested, Xavier retires in a year, Harden learns from him and takes his place on the starting XI, Cronin trades off with Cannon, we later trade Cannon, move Cronin to starting GK, over time, Sesay eventually replaces Donovan, Ruiz, or whoever other forward Gullit reels in.

With that central midfield pairing? The answer to your question is No.

Honestly, with all th youth we gave away this year, I'd like to see us take a chance on Arvizu. The kid hasn't got a chance to show his stuff yet with either NY or Chivas. He was a great youth player.

I remember that discussion. It's a good point since Beckham makes fouls all the more valuable.

The problem is fitting him on the roster. I think he'll probably require a senior roster contract and things are getting tight for us.

God knows we have enough space on the dev roster. On the other hand, I've never been that impressed by players like Arvizu. He's got some skills, but I'm not sure he has the physicality to survive in the league, and he's not so skillful that you can overlook that.

You know, we have had THREE coaches in a row, each of whom seemed to have a fair degree of confidence in Pete. Doesn't that tell us anything? I mean three coaches couldn't all be total idiots...actually only one of them was.
