the truly sad part is that the notion has been bandied about almost as much as the title has been used :(

Maybe what we need is a UN Security Council Resolution. Now talk about a something the world is willing to stand up and enforce....

Worst part is, this is already Wahl's second shot at it, and he's only had two soccer columns this YEAR!

"Worst part is, this is already Wahl's second shot at it, and he's only had two soccer columns this YEAR!"

Give Mr. Wahl a brake! He is one of the few that writes in a presitious magazine, to me he is a Soldier of Soccer. He's pushing our game into the minds of those who don't follow soccer at all. How many time does anyone have to say good things to the nay-sayers until finally they can hear in their own heads that "maybe" Soccer is a good thing? So, let anyone write about Adu 1000 times. Let Soccer be contagious as SARS.

Maybe we should keep a count of all the 'Much Adu' headlines, so as to remind the bs friendly media that its now an OLD JOKE.

'Much Adu' besides, I really enjoyed the article.

Maybe, instead of the cheesy headline, we should be "beating up" Wahl for indirectly getting Manchester United to possibly hook up with Freddy. Thanks alot, Grant.

I was anxiously awaiting Freddy's arrival to MLS and we can prety much forget that now! Brilliant.

Agreed--the headline is terrible. I don't write the headlines, but I can (and did) get upset with the editors who do, particularly when I called for the moratorium on "Much Adu..." in a previous column.

As for the column itself, cut me some slack. It won't go up on my mantle, but I had a nice nugget from my Man U trip and I used it.

BTW, look for the Man U story in an upcoming SI.

Well, I certainly enjoyed the article. And I and a few million of my closest friends appreciate your effort to hook Adu up with United. :)

See you at the New York and Philly United games!

    Cheers!

If Adu ends up signing with Man U (and we don't see him play for, oh, another six years or so), we will never, ever forgive you and personally crucify you in the bowels of the Azteca Stadium.

Other than that, I very much enjoyed your article. :)

    Amen Flash!

Hey Grant, couldn't you have just given them Sasha Victorine's number to throw 'em off for a short while?

I see absolutely nothing wrong with an article actually reporting new information (and I would say that direct knwledge of interest in Mr Adu by the evil empire would count as such)... what I object to is all of the Adu articles that are started without anything new or substantiated to report... I hope we can give it a rest until right around the time of the U17 world championship (unless an important bit of news, such as this, arises)...

Grant: the proper response would've been "Adu? What Adu? Never heard of the kid and you can't have him either!"

Only about 5,000 people globally are confirmed to have SARS. The Burn draw better than that on a purple football field in the suburbs. The Quakes draw better for Wednesday night.

Careful Liam, you might be the subject of two sports columns in the span of a week with those comments. :)
