The tournament is being held in Iran this time.

Teams participating: Iran, Palestine, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, and Iraq.

Seeing as to how Iran played no real friendlies before the game against Jordan, this should be a good way for Branko to really test some things out.

    Round 1 just finished today...

    Palestine 1 - Jordan 1
    +
    Iran 4 (Daei hat-trick, Nekounam) - Lebanon 0

    comming up...

    ------------------------------

    Saturday, June 19

    Iraq vs Palestine (16:00)
    Syria vs Lebanon (18:30)........Tehran times

A dissapointing performance from the Iraqi team! It's unfortunate that Iraq played with out 8 Olympic players of whome 6 were starters, as they were rested for upcoming events. 5 players from club Al-talaba who showed promising talents against al-zamalik of Egypt playing the arab club champion's league, could not make it due the loss of their passports!! In addition, the available NT players were not motivated due a descision by the Iraqi FA to have the Olympic team play in the Asian cup in China instead of NT.

This year has been very hectic schedule for Iraqi football, we all were looking forward to winning the second WAFF title.
