If you know what that stands for, admit you read it. I haven't bought the last book yet. They really started to drag around number 7 or 8. I will read it tho.
I've got them all. They did indeed drag for #7 and #8. #9 was better. #10, so far, is pretty good; I'm about halfway through. Still isn't as good as Songs of Ice and Fire, though.
I forget the total # of books he wrote but I'm have yet to read the last one. My brother told me it wasn't the last of the story and I kind of pushed it out of my head. I can barely remember the middle of the story
The series is expected to run at least 12 books. If Jordan kicks the bucket before finishing the series, a lot of people are going to be PO'd...
Sheesh, I've already ponied up $30 x 10 books... 11 if you count that awful Guide they printed about four years ago. I can't afford to ransom him. I would guess that the ransom would have been much higher five or six years ago when he was at the height of his popularity. You couldn't surf the net without tripping over at least one WOT site.
These are my favorite fantasy books. In fact, I've noticed that I do not enjoy other authors of the genre as much as I once did because their books pale in comparison. The fourth book is not coming out until the fall, three years after the third book was delivered. I wish George would pick up the pace.
If you think he's bad you should try reading Melanie Rawn. Her stories pick up generally where the last one left yet she waits forever between books. Like the 3rd book in her latest trilogy won't come out till 2005. The Mageborn Sisters series
Originally, there was going to be a 5 year gap in the timeline between the third and fourth book, now he has decided to pick up where the third book left off. Of course, if he keeps killing off characters at his current pace, there will be no one left by the sixth book.
After reading the first six books I vowed to myself that I would wait until Jordan finished before I would return to the story. I loved every book, but the news that it would be forever until I could get the whole tale just turned me off. When all the books are finally available I will sit down, start from scratch, and not stop until I've read them all. I'll let you know how it ends, if you want!

Great books, but it's been so long since I read #9 that I barely remember what's going on anymore. I'm trying to decide whether to go back and start the series again at the beginning so I can remember all the details of what's going on, or if I just want to muddle through #10 blind. Anyone who's read #10, can you tell me how completely lost I will be if I just try and pick it up without refreshing my memory? Can I fake it?
I'd say you can fake it. VERY MILD SPOILER BELOW, STOP READING IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW Most of the first half of the book centers around "where everyone is and what they're doing, simultaneous with that important thing Rand and Nynaeve were doing at the end of Book 9." Whirlwind, thanks for the input. The thought of re-reading thousands of pages (and books 7 and 8 which I agree really did drag at points) to be able to follow book 10 was more than a little daunting. Does anyone really think R.J. is actually going to get all the loose ends tied up in 2 more books? I've really enjoyed the depth of the detail of the world he's created, but he's got so many subplots going I don't know how he's ever going to tie it all togther. Granted, my opinion is based on the end of book 9... I think my favorite character is probably still Perrin, though he hasn't been developed as much as the others have through the last book I read. Rand has become a kind of an a-hole, but I actually find that refreshing on some level. I'm frankly sick of the major hero of all fantasy books always having pure motivation and behaving righteously at all times. Most authors might allow their hero to have one human weak moment, but that's about it. Rand actually behaves in a way I find reasonably realistic for someone thrust into the circumstances he has been. No one is going to come through all that without some serious baggage and a bit of a bad attitude--it's just too much for one person to handle. That having been said, it doesn't mean that if I wrote myself into the book I wouldn't smack him around a little bit and tell him to get over himself.
scary as it seems, i reread 1-7 several years ago and it was a great xperience, better the secon dtime around cause there are so many foreshadowings and stuff.ugh scary
Well, like I said, I am just going to wait until I know for a fact I have every book in my hand. I agree it should be interesting to go back and see all the forshadowing. I really do love this series, but now it seems like ages ago that I was given Book One as a christmas present.
Not wanting to give anything away but even though he is an a-hole he gets some rather good perks from it...there aren't too many guys who are the center of quite so much female attention...and have all the girls accepting it to!
