My preview of the two DC-area teams, the Washington Spirit Reserves and the Braddock Road Stars Elite, is up here.

They played this afternoon with the Reserves winning, 4-1, in a fun game to watch (match report to come, probably tomorrow). Both teams were missing key players, so it will be interesting to see how the rematch goes.

Sedona are an expansion team for this year, the Blues are a merger of (arguably) the two best teams west of the Mississippi - it was going to be a mismatch. But that does seem a bit much...

See now, this is why I dislike the whole USL organization:
USL Pro invariably calls itself top competition outside MLS despite it being third-division to NASL's second-division, and here they're continuing to pretend that WPSL doesn't even exist, as the Gulf Coast Texans have three seasons in WPSL under their belts already, they are not an "expansion" side. USL just likes to completely ignore any potential competition.

Expecting USL to recognize NASL and WPSL is like expecting Serbia to recognize Kosovo.

Considering that WPSL is a much larger league than W-League and NASL is recognized as higher-level than USL Pro, I think the more appropriate comparison would be expecting England to recognize the USA.

It took the loss of 2 wars for them to do that...

True, but there's still a difference between not recognizing sovereign status and pretending someone completely doesn't exist.

Yes, that's why what I was wrote was hyperbole for comedic effect.
