From the All Rocks rules page: "If you accidentally make a transfer mistake of a player on someone else's team do the following. Notify your league, Immediately transfer them out, any points that player brought in has to be deducted and a -4 penalty needs to be taken. Usually, the -4 penalty can be made by making the additional transfers that cost -4 on the official site." I'd interpret this to say you need to be sure to deduct any points Ruben earns from your overall total and a -4 penalty for the illegal transfer. I would suggest that if you make an additional transfer next week that would suffice in taking the -4 penalty since the game will deduct that from you points total next week anyway.
Ugh. This is a potential mess. 1. Is it correct that one "in" player was already on another team? 2. Did the player show correctly on the G-Doc? (That wouldn't change ownership but could impact penalties). A. The big issue to address is that if a multi-player trade is posted (which occurred here) and one piece is illegal, the entire trade has been deemed illegal. Note: there are scenarios where this rule protects the trader and if, for example, who can't get one part of the trade, you wouldn't want any of it. And the trader can avoid this issue by posting the trades separately (even if if the same post). If the entire trade is illegal, there are 5 illegal players on the roster this week, not just 1. This could be ignored for everyone's sanity if there is a consensus to do so, BUT you've got an additional issue because the illegal player was a defender and there were 2 defenders out and 2 defenders in. Since it was posted as a multi-player trade, which one is the one being reversed? If you read it as posted, Ruben is the 3rd one on the "in" list and Maatsen is the 3rd one on the "out" list. That would be the simple solution (provided there is enough in the bank to reverse just that one). Note: Maatsen has already been picked up by someone for the coming week, so that would need be reversed, unless FCE agrees to reverse it out by taking back the other "out" defender Ake. (Starboy shouldn't have taken Maatsen given the cloud on all of this and shouldn't have any penalty if it needs to be corrected). Option 1: reverse all of it. All points scored by any of the 5 need to be subtracted. Option 2A: reverse Ruben for Maatsen. Any Ruben points need to be subtracted. Option 2B: reverse Ruben for Ake. Any Ruben points need to be subtracted. B. Glorydaze is correct that there is also a potential 4 point deduction to correct the illegal transfer ((or in this case, a potential 20- point deduction if all 5 are deemed illegal). This shouldn't apply no matter what if the GDoc was not accurate. Assuming that it was accurate, My understanding of this rule is that you can't avoid a 4 point penalty that (i) the trade should be revrsed immediately (even if you havent been informed about it yet) and (ii) this will generally result in a 4 point penalty as it would be at least the second transfer of the week and you shouldn't be able to avoid that penalty if you don't get to correcting it until the next week. BUT here FCE was on a wildcard, so would have been able to correct it for free last week, so there should be no correction penalty, and FCE might be entitled to a point credit in this situation. I don't recall seeing this before. -------- Bottom line, it's a mess.
PS - big point is that you need to sort asap as you've got 9 players with a cloud on them at the moment. IF anyone wants one of them, I'd POST it here to claim priority but I wouldn't make any transfers in the system until it's sorted out!!! But you need to resolve.
It was right in the spreadsheet, but I’d personally still lean towards leniency and simplicity. Can we just say he loses any points from Ruben this week (currently 0 in the 80th minute) and has to transfer him out this week for an available player?
If FCE doesn't want Maatsen and has someone else he'd be okay taking instead, then this is a simple resolution for THIS situation!!! Particularly with Ruben scoring 0 this week. BUT I wouldn't want this as a rule--that dropped players in an illegal trade are fair game. The illegal trade is void, which is why we have always required the trade to be reversed before a new trade is made. And while there are times when you're looking to ditch a player and this won't matter, if you've dropped a good player as part of what ends up being an illegal trade, this would be extra harsh to find out that not only did you not get your new target but you also lost your other player too.
