Philadelphia Union – Montreal Impact Saturday, July 14, 2012 – 7pm (ET) PPL Park, Chester Broadcast: TVA Sports Also available on: illico web, illico mobile, MLS Live MONTREAL, Quebec – The Montreal Impact (6-11-3) hits the road to face the Philadelphia Union (5-9-2) for the first time this season, on Saturday, at PPL Park, at 7pm (ET). The Union sits four points behind the Impact in the Eastern Conference standings, but has four games in hand. “They are in really good form right now,” said Impact head coach Jesse Marsch. “Under their new head coach, there is a renewed energy within the group. They have a lot of youthful, mobile players that like to move the ball a lot. They are a version of the way we like to play. We match up well with them and it is an important game for both teams in the standings.” http://www.impactmontreal.com/en/ne...ct-takes-philadelphia-union-ppl-park-saturday
Ferrari, Nesta and Rivas to start against Philadelphia There is an old expression in sports that goes: defence wins championships. If that’s true, then the Montreal Impact may have found the recipe for its future success. After a solid defensive performance against the New York Red Bulls last Saturday, with the likes of Alessandro Nesta making his MLS debut, and Nelson Rivas returning from injury, the Impact will add to its dominance by starting all three of its former Serie A defenders for the first time Saturday versus Philadelphia http://www.impactmontreal.com/en/news/2012/08/rivas-ferrari-and-nesta-start-against-philadelphia
To add to the Di Vaio news .. he's going back to attend hearings on the match fixing. This article covers it a bit .. If Wenger hadn't returned it would be quite a serious problem. As well as Impact possibly using a 3 man Italy defense, Nesta in the centre, with Camara playing higher. (I was wondering what they were going to do with having 3 CBs) .. By the way, Nesta is only making 225k/yr! ... Di Vaio is making 1.9 Million/yr A rather good description of what they intend to do: http://www.cbc.ca/sports/soccer/story/2012/08/02/sp-soccer-mls-montreal-impact-marco-di-vaio.html
MONTREAL, Quebec – The Montreal Impact (8-13-3) will look to extend its three-game home unbeaten streak against the Philadelphia Union (7-10-2) on Saturday at 7:30pm (ET), at Stade Saputo. Less than 2,000 tickets are available for the game. Individual tickets for the match can be purchased through admission.com or at Stade Saputo. The Impact played in front of a sellout crowd of 19,441 spectators last Saturday versus New York. The Impact has a record of 7-3-2 at home, including five wins in seven games since Stade Saputo reopened. Philadelphia sits right behind the Impact in the Eastern Conference standings with 23pts, four less than the Impact, but has five games in hand. This will be the second of two meetings this season between these two clubs, with the Impact falling to the Union at PPL Park back on July 14 by a 2-1 score. The Union scored the game winning goal in the 91st minute off of a long throw in to steal all three points. http://www.impactmontreal.com/en/ne...akes-philadelphia-union-stade-saputo-saturday
Crucial Montreal win overshadowed by Rivas headbutt http://www.mlssoccer.com/matchcenter/2012-08-04-mtl-v-phi/highlights
Rivas will be watching for a wile. I would bet 4-5. That was UGLY and cheap. The other red should not have been a red, wasnt that bad
Lack of restraint from Rivas really careless impact pushing for a playoff birth could of not come at a more critical moment. p.s the supporter section tonight was on ********ing fire great atmosphere.
On comprend pourquoi tu penses cà, tu sembles avoir beaucoup plus de classe. You guys can speack in the language you want, as long as you are impact fan, and btw did you know that the MLS website had french coverage review for our Impacts About the game, idk why no one talks about it but the Felipe's goal was wicked in my opinion!!
Just a side note the um02 visit to the city if brotherly love the Mtl supporters got bombarded with racist chants towards them, having chats like your full of shit is fine we do it but I care not to say what was said and the gull of one dude that said to them that racist comments are accepted in the USA what a turd. Yes the trolling of that guy got out of hand and I enjoyed it for a while till it got really personal he should have quit while he was ahead I enjoy some playful banter but it got really ugly.
Bravo pour ton criss de troll hier, belle façon de se faire respecter dans la ligue. Ostie d'épais. Now, regarding the game: 1. Sweet goal by Felipe 2. Rivas is out for a while, so I guess we won't really have the chance to try and make work a 3CB defense this season. 3. UM02 were on fire yesterday
I went on their board and apologized for your behavior. Your posts are abhorrent and I'm surprised you have not been permabanned yet. Si tu veux rester, garde le ton civil svp. Bref. I was at the game, great atmosphere, crowd was into it. Sons of Ben got a few moments here and there but not more. Philly got no sustained pressure all game, just took advantage of occasional lapses, luckily they couldn't convert. The ejection and probable suspension of Rivas will hurt, but we'll make it
The impact have an uphill battle. They were looking so good with the quasi 3/4 back system. That was so so stupid of Rivas. With Marcos problems and Nesta coming right in there's gonna be more pressure on him to shore up that back line. I hope his body can take it.
Did you pay attention? Him and his partner were making ************ jokes and posting anti rash(red and anarchist skinheads) music, they aren't the "racists"(read ignorant xenophobes) in philly that used lame jokes about being french or whatever, they're actual, open, racists/fascists. If I ever see who they are they can give my steel toes a kiss, ******** these people, they're a disgrace to humanity. le vilain/ la vilaine should be kicked off this board asap for their shit, don't think it's justifiable or comparable.
Agreed like I said when I started reading it was harmless then when i read the rest it mushroomed into complete nonsense and disgraceful conduct I'm all for cracking jokes back and forth but too a limit. And I know it's a minority of fans that chanted racist remarks at the um's was completely classless. And I retract my comment after reading all the post from these ballon heads.
To be honest, philly fans weren't actually that hurtful, they made the typical jokes about frogs that no one cares about since they don't do it right, comments that stephen harper sucks(yeah, we know, we agree) and stuff about moose and going back to our own country(like we wanted to stay in that one...) no comparisons
Trident trust me there was more too just calling us frogs and going back to Canada I talked to one my ultras buddy's that was there and what they said was tasteless and I'm not going to comment on it further. They got there 15 min of shame let's move on talking about our club.
