I received an email in my inbox about a friendly vs. Olympique Lyonnais on July 24th. Was this just announced? It's only a week away but I'm super tempted to go.

Historically they are a solid European team but nothing special at the moment. They placed 4th in Ligue 1 and were about 20 points off of Montpelier's winning pace last season.

From my own perspective as an Ajax fan...Lyon shared a group with Ajax in the CL this past season so I saw them against my boys a few times. The only reason they progressed past Ajax in the group stage is because they made up 6 goals in the 2nd half of their final match against Zagreb to best Ajax on goal difference. Was HIGHLY suspicious, conspiracy theorists were up in arms but no foul play was ever discovered.

Really wish I had received this email a long time ago I would have planned a trip to heckle...but probably not going to make it at this point.

Yeah I understand...Sorry just a lot of animosity towards that club. It stunk of match fixing.

He looked good. Definitely a notch above everyone else on the field when it came to reading and anticipating plays. We will see later today against New York but if the friendly against Lyon is any indication, I'm not worried one bit.

Yeah I kind of figured as much. He was one of the top defenders for Milan in his last few months so I can't see how the MLS would be as tough. Sad that he will only have 10-2 games (+ playoffs if they make it) left in the season to show his stuff.
