cho kwangrae and hong myungbo were the most influential in the recent downwards trajectory. cho kwangrae started it all and hong myungbo finished the job
Was HMB really at fault though? This is a genuine question. I feel that he did terribly with the senior team, but given more time he could've done much better.
People basically now just think of him as a 꼰대 But still, he achieved the 2nd greatest feat in Korean football history by winning bronze in 2012. The team looked so good back then... even in the 3-0 Brazil match, it was down to goalkeeping mistakes after jsr got injured, and we had some good chances throughout. His tactics weren't great but he lit a fire under everyone's asses. Probably the most promising manager that we've had that the KFA yet again ruined.
How did HMB's side look like throughout the tournament? I remember we beat the Swiss 2-1 and earned 1 point each against Mexico and Gabon.
It was still basically the same tactics we've been playing with for a while. Posession, short passes. But our defense for the first time in a long while looked pretty solid. Like I said though, best thing about HMB wasn't tactics but his ability to get everyone motivated. Players took the game to Great Britain in London and looked like they were going to kill someone vs Japan, especially Koo lol. Ki said before the Japan match, during film study, HMB showed videos of Japan going up for contested headers, and told them in instances like this "박살내라"
It speaks volumes when a guy is running away with this title by a wide margin. Especially when he's got some good competition.
Shin Taeyong was worse than Uli Shitlieke. Uli is a close second but he a far more unlikeable human being.
