Wow, Wooley's in 2nd place. He actually had the lead earlier in the afternoon, but now he's slipping in the polls once the rumors of his womanizing surfaced. In the "real" vote after the season, Pope and Guevara should be co-MVP in my opinion.
nah. idle, unfounded speculation is the testament of a true fan. that being said, i too vote for eddie. his level of play is steadfast and solid, and his presence on the field always gives both the team and the fans a visible confidence. he has an air of tireless discipline and coolheadedness (thats a word) that we seem to lack in other players as of late. while these qualities arent as flashy and cool as, say, steve jolley's goal-scoring spurt, they push the team to a higher level and produce creative opportunities.
IIRC, Woly was crap at the beginning of the season, or at least expectations were pitifully low then. He has turned into a central figure for the team since.
The Metros are 4-0-3 when Chris Leitch starts...need i say more My real vote is for Eddie... VIVA METROS!!!
Guevara is know second in the MLS with 10 assists http://www.nj.com/metrostars/ledger/index.ssf?/base/sports-0/106550703515470.xml
Although, all the MetroStars' players have had great performances, my pick was Amado Guevara. Mainly 'cause he's been the best playmaker I've seen in MLS this season and it's like he's involved in almost every major play by the Metros. I must say that this year's nominees are really hard to choose from. Each one has contributed greatly to this team in 2003. I would also put Bob Bradley's name there.
that's getting close John Wolyniec 28% Eddie Pope 27% Amado Guevara 26% Steve Jolley 5% Clint Mathis 9% Other 5%
3 way tie: John Wolyniec 28% Amado Guevara 28% Eddie Pope 28% Clint Mathis 8% Steve Jolley 5% Other 4% They could be counting chads before this one's done.
Woly ahead Who has been the most valuable? Amado Guevara 30% Steve Jolley 4% Clint Mathis 8% Eddie Pope 22% John Wolyniec 32% Other 4%
Armando Guevara with a nice lead Who has been the most valuable? Amado Guevara 32% Steve Jolley 5% Clint Mathis 9% Eddie Pope 20% John Wolyniec 30% Other 4%
Wolyniec is kicking ass valuable? Amado Guevara 27% Steve Jolley 4% Clint Mathis 8% Eddie Pope 18% John Wolyniec 40% Other 3%
Seriously, in the beggining of the season, who would ever thought that Woly would be leading this vote for MVP??? the funny thing is(pardon my expression) but technically Woly sux.... his ball skills shouldn't permit him to be in MLS. Now that he is in MLS, he is probably the hardest worker and plays with the most passion then anyone in the league- the next coming of Savarese!!
A most valuble canadate for the Metros are you kidding me? He has made 2 plays since he has been with the team. He has some potential but that's it right at this point in time.
