http://www.mlsnet.com/multimedia/pepsi/index.php having seen all of the goals I think Etch's was the best in terms of buildup and finish. james
As much as I would like to vote for his goal, Twellman's was much better in terms of difficulty. A very difficult ball to finish and he struck it well. Perez' is also pretty spectacular. Etch's does display great teamwork and a very good finish, I guess I just prefer the spectacular.
If it was "finish of the week", I'd vote Twellman. Goal of the week was the DC United buildup to Etcheverry's goal.
This is a tough call. In terms of teamwork, the DCU goal is the best. In terms of the strike, however, Perez and Twellman just had absolute crackers. BTW, tell me again why we traded Perez? Sure would be nice to be able to play him at left mid - where he's playing for Chicago this year - and let Bobby play centrally.
From the build up straight through to Marco's precision strike, our goal was pure class. I think Twellman and Perez's goals might be more in line to win based on their individual skill in their paticular goals, but they get no vote from me as long as there is a man in a United kit nominated.
His goal doesn't deserve goal of the week. Perez's goal was pure luck. 99% of the time the ball isn't going to be on frame. Twellman's goal showed mad skill. That's my vote.
I think Perez may score a couple more like that this year. He was only with us for a short time but just missed on a couple of bombs like that. I also wish we still had him here.
no way gee he finally hit one after 3 years , and didnt duff it like last week off of COnveys lay off WOW NO WAY Perez gets the nod, and i HATE both teams
nyah nyah nyah You probably missed the goals he hit last year, especially the beauty against Chicago. It was very similar to the one he nailed against the Crew in the 4-0 ass whoopin' to knock them out of the playoffs. Again
I can't believe there are those that attribute Marco's goal to "luck"... he drilled it straight in; an unlikely occurence under any circumstances unless deliberately done. These doubting "thomas" soccer fans need to read Marco's bio... this is hardly the first time Etch has done this and I very much doubt it will be his last! In reference to this post... I did vote for Etch and always do! IntheNet
Calm down already. Read, then write. No one said your beloved Marco's goal was lucky. That Fah Que nit wit said PEREZ'S goal was "pure luck" (which is also silly.) Everyone else has had nothing but praise for Marco's strike. Geez.
