Just curious to see if anyone has seen both and which one would you choose? I know from a picture quality standpoint, it would seem as if WorldSport HD would be the clear winner. However I have heard that Gol TV may broadcast their signal later in HD. Also I had emailed Comcast New England about Gol TV's English broadcast and they said they were not aware of this. I mentioned that DISH offers two versions, one in their Spanish tier and the other on America's Top 180 in English. I had heard that Comcast out on the West Coast does off Gol TV in English.
I live in Mountain View, CA and we just have the Spanish feed - which you have to pay more for. I haven't heard of Comcast offering GOL TV in English anywhere.
Comcast is carrying GolTV in English in their just launched Sports Tier. Currently it is available in the Baltimore corridor, but in every other city where the Sports Tier is launched, GolTV will very probably be there. Channel # is 268. - Washington D.C. Constantino just curious, do you work for Gol TV? I'm glad to hear that Gol TV will most likely launch in English in the new Sports Tier package from Comcast. I'm in the Boston area and I have heard that this will happen by the fall sometime. Unfortunately right now I'm a subscriber to RCN so I may have to make the switch over to Comcast if Gol TV isn't added to my cable system. Also any truth to the rumors that Gol TV will be broadcasting in High Definition anytime soon?
Hi. Yes, I work in GolTV, and frequently browse this boards to have an idea of what we need to correct asap, etc. We expect to launch in the Boston Area by fall, right now we have it listed as a pending launch in channel 714: " Massachusetts Boston, Portland, Providence, Springfield Boston, Portland, Providence, Springfield 714 " However, to be honest, once the launch form is filled, it depends on the regional Comcast when they'll exactly launch us. I've found their call-centers are usually the last in being notified, so it had happened that one particular area's call center representative says we are not there, but we are indeed already avail. You may want to ask for a supervisor. Perhaps with the above information you may learn what's going on. There are no short-term plans to broadcast HD, of course we have a business plan regarding HD for the medium and long-term. I won't happen this year though. We have done some tests, sublicensing part of La Liga to VOOM, to start learning about the HD process, etc. Thank you, Constantino GolTV, Inc. consta@goltv.tv
Not much than what's officially posted in www.goltv.tv . In the Bay Area you should be able to find GolTV at: (again, try to work your way through Comcast's call center, they are usually the last ones in getting the new launches. Ask for a supervisor) You will find it in the Hispanic Tier. Not sure when they'll launch their Sports Tier. Constantino3, we have Gol TV right now in Spanish (which I don't subscribe to) on channel 714, but was wondering if we will be getting the English version in the upcoming Sports Package, come this Fall? Thanks?
I have Voom and I have to say that the La Liga presentation is excellent. People can always quibble about announcers but, in my opinion, the announcers on the WorldSport telecasts are fine. The picture quality is just outstanding - some of the best HD there is. dave
I've called time warner here in nyc several times to request gol tv doesnt look like they are going to add it here...Im surprised about this because i figured this would be a good fit for there new sports tier or spanish tier... -howie
As constantino3 mentioned, GolTV's Comcast channel in the Bay Area is 618. I'm not aware of a separate English-language GolTV channel here, but if you go into your on-screen digital box menu and change the language from English (U.S.) to Spanish, the audio on channel 618 (except for the commercials) will be in English. I hope that helped! -G
Really? That's interesting. But it's a "NOT AUTHORIZED" channel so I guess I have to pay Comcast just to try that...
Can someone please tell me what leagues Voom offers? I went on their website and the font was so freakin small you need a magnifying glass to read the descriptions of their channels.
It turns out that you can't order just that one channel - you'd need to order the Selecto Totál package, which gives you Spanish-language channels 600-618. It may or may not be too pricey for just that one channel (it's up to you to decide), but at least the package also includes Fox Sports World Español (channel 602). However, unlike GolTV, FSWE does not have an English-SAP feature. -G
