Sorry if this is in the wrong forum Just purchased a new TV, have comcast digital and the HD box which gives me a few HD channels something like 8 maybe 9. Was thinking of maybe investing in this new TV network Voom HD which has some 35+ HD channels, and also comes with a variety of regular satelite or cable channels, and FSW which of course is the only reason I would look into this, even though the FSW is not in HD...yet. They do have something called the WorldSport which is all HD and they are going to be showing the UEFA CUP and SPL, does anybody know about this company, the quality of their programs, and is it compatible with say an Direct or Comcast system. Pricing structures and so on? Your thoughts and concerns are appreciated. http://voom.com/vhdo/wspt/index.jsp
i actually stayed in a DC hotel this weekend and enjoyed WorldSport HD on the Voom system. the picture quality was amazing. they seem to be heavily focused on La Liga in Spain, and often showed replays (got to see Barca tear about Real Madrid) and there was a live Saturday match as well. there was also a replay of some Uefa Cup featuring Brugge from Belgium. HD is an excellent way to view the game. I don't know if Voom carries it, or if your cable or other satellite options do, but HDnet has a contract with MLS to show a weekly game, and I'm pretty sure that contract runs at least thru the 2005 season.
Yeah HDNet has been one channel that I would like to have also, but its not available with Comcast and only through Direct tv or dishnetwork, neither Voom or Comcast have this. Didn't they also show a USMNT game last year?
World Sport's soccer matches are provided under contract by GolTV. They provide select La Liga matches. I would expect they also provide the UEFA Cup matches as well. HDNet is not available on Voom. GolTV is not available either although that may change soon as Dish Network's DBS exclusivity agreement with GolTV is about to run out.
I'm sitting here waiting on my Voom installer as we speak. I'll report back later on how I find the service. To answer your question, HDNet showed the US v. Haiti and US v. Mexico friendlies this year in HD. They also showed one MLS game per week and both of the MLS semifinals. The DC v. New England semifinal in HD was absolutely beautiful. For more info on Voom, check out this forum: http://www.satelliteguys.us/vbindex.php For more info on Voom soccer, check out this post on that forum: http://www.satelliteguys.us/showthread.php?t=26804 There is a guy in that forum under the handle "WSMatt" who is an associate producer for WorldSport so it has some good up-to-minute info on schedules, etc.
Sounds great, cant wait to hear all about it and how it measures up. The only thing is that it doesn't have that HDnet, but does anyone know if HDnet will continue to show US or MLS games, or if Voom will add HDnet
I kept my Time Warner Cable so I still get HDNet and INHD (which showed some DC United games last season). The best of both worlds! I seem to recall that the HDNet contract with MLS/SUM runs through the 2005 season. Their production was increbile last season for MLS games. The semifinal between DC and NE may have been the finest combination of game content plus production I've ever seen. As for Voom, I've had it installed for a few days now and I'm really impressed with the picture quality on all the channels, but WorldSportHD in particular is awesome. I'm not sure I really wanted to see Ronaldihno in High-Definition but other than that, I can't complain. Here's hoping that more leagues start showing games in HD and WorldSportHD is able to expand their lineup beyond La Liga next season.
