Im sick of this guy, we have drawn so many games. Porto is supposed to be a winning team. I will not watch another game this season until he is gone or he gets shit together.
The SAD can do whatever they want but we are in 1st in the league, can't afford firing VP and getting another average coach won't help us. I'd rather wait.
It's all about results. We are in first (barely) and we are one point out of first in our group with 3 games to go so he won't be fired right away. If we dont qualify for the second round of the CL, that will be the first big nail in the coffin. If that happens AND we slide into 2nd or 3rd around midseason, I could see him being sacked then. I'm wary of going through a coaching carousel and reliving the DelNeri/Fernandez/Couceiro era, but I am also not happy with the direction of the team.
We should fire vitor pereira. And get domingos or jesus. Both would take the coaching job here in a second if we made an offer. Domingos only signed for sporting because we had avb
Plastic fans can stop watching for all I care. VP hasn't impressed, but I'm willing to give him a bit more time. Especially because I don't see any good replacements out there.
I've said it in the past, I like VP and I want him to succeed, but he lacks leadership in the boot room. I agree palynka, but let's say things continue to slide, when would you pull the trigger on VP? Let's continue, if he does get canned who would you like to see take over? The two names out there are Pedro and Jorge. Everyone loves Pedro, but he's very inexperienced. Then there's Jorge, again well loved but lacks experience. Who else? Would Braga let Jardim leave and for what price? I think Jardim would fit nicely at FCP.
If we make the knockout stage and he continues to get results in the liga, VP should stay on, I think getting knocked out of the CL would be a reason to fire him and I don't expect much trouble in league except for the sporting and braga fixtures. I think if he does well up to January he might as well stay on for the rest of the year unless we somehow fall apart to 4th place or something
I agree, his man management doesn't seem the best. Then again, good results are one of the best man management strategies. Bad results and the players on the bench will start being much more demanding. I don't think PE is an option, really. I'd rather have JC, but maybe he wants to finish a full season before walking out on Cluj. Jardim...I'm not sold on him yet, it would be a risky gamble again. I just think that even if VP does badly, we'll maybe have more options for better coaches at the end of the season.
with all do respect, i disagree. both JJ and Domingos would not leave to coach porto right now. Lets face it, JJ is coaching a good team at the moment, and has no reason to leave. Domingos has finally getting his team to gel with the players that arrived under his wishes. In fact, accoriding to reports, PDC approached Domingos early this year and wanted him to come to porto to replace AVB. Domingos declined, stating he's a man of his word and already had a agreement with Godinho Lopes to coach sporting if he won the presidential elctions. He also wasn't to happy at the fact that last season, porto decided to go after AVB instead of Domingos. He was bitter about that. I still think Domingos might end up at porto one day, but it won't be anytime soon. If any current coach were to come to porto right now, it would be the Braga coach IMO.
I dont make a habit out of defending Porto coaches but to be fair, I dont think it is just the coach guys. We are seeing just how important Falcao was to Porto. PDC once said, "Its not the coaches. Any coach can coach one of my teams because I am the team". IMO the fault lies in the hands of PDC for creating a huge hole in his team and not filling it in the off season.
It don't think it's Falcao at all. Our bigger problem now is the midfield which is a shadow of last year's. Whether it's coach, players or a combination is hard to tell but I don't think Kleber or Walter are the problem right now. Falcao isn't doing so well without the service he got at Porto, either. AM have also the players to create that service, but it's also not happening there for some reason. If anything, AVB is missing to correct what's wrong with our midfield but he's not coming back any time soon and I don't see other candidates doing what he did with our midfield or even better than VP for that matter.
Falcoa is missed not only in striking but he also came back a fair bit. It is also about the space he would create for Hulk. My point is very simple. A better coach may be able to correct/cover up this problem but PDC created the problem and it is right down the middle of your teams formation.
There was life before Falcao and there will be life after him. The quality of our midfield players is good enough for them to be playing better than they are now, with or without Falcao. When Falcao was subbed or wasn't playing last year, the midfield didn't suddenly collapse. PDC made an awesome deal, as usual. €40+7M is not a refusable offer for Falcao. Thank you, Falcao, and best of luck to you. Simple as that. That's not creating a problem, it's following our footballing model.
100% agreed. Last years Porto team was much better than this years, and this years porto team is still good. Just goes to show you how good last years team was with falcao. He was a pur finisher. Something that Klieber is lacking. Falcao was just a beast! But Falcao is the past, now you move on without him. VP is not coaching like garbage, he's doing a good job. Still undefeated in the Liga. It's still early.
PDC made a good sale, PDC failed to fill in the gap created by the sale. Many Porto fans are quick to praise PDC (as well as they should, he has been amazing for your team) but no Porto fans will admit (at least not on a public forum) when he ********s up. I have no doubt that PDC will fix the problem. IMO I would try to get Lisandro back as I hear he may be available in January......
