    UEFA Cup 1st round:

    Vitesse - Rapid Bukarest 1-1

With Rapid scoring in the absolute last second of the game. I guess it was a deserved score like the commentator said, was a pretty even match-up, but to me Vitesse had the (few) better goal scoring opportunities. Still a chance to go on next week, be it a little one.

UEFA Cup 2nd round, 1st leg

    Vitesse - Werder Bremen 2-1

I hope the Germans play as sad as they played over here, Vitesse didn't play that great either but at least that means they won't have a problem with the Deutschers at all in 2 weeks.

With the help of Frank Verlaat (heh heh !) Vitesse now has a good chance to make it through to the next round.
But one can never predict European football, which has produced some amazing results so far this year. Anything is possible.

At least Vitesse has.....Frank Verlaat !

Not so lucky draw for the Dutch teams today, what with Ajax' tough group and this UEFA Cup draw:

    Liverpool vs Vitesse

At least they got the home advantage for the 2nd and last leg

Vitesse have bowed out of the Intertoto Cup, a tournament which gives 3 more teams from Europe the chance to compete in the UEFA Cup.

This because the club has got major $$$ problems, and partaking in this Cup would only make them lose more money.

Vitesse are currently 13th in the division, 12 points away from a spot that lets you play in the UEFA Cup.

    That's a shame.
Beautiful modern stadia and all, but yet cannot compete consistently.
With all the ambition years ago to be the "fourth" team in the leage, it is just not happening.
