    Hey all--

I'm a big Spurs fan from the States heading over to London next semester. Anyone have any tips as to the best way to get game tickets/get the best-football-related experience possible?

how long will you be there? if you're studying and will be there the entire semester, you'll have no problems. if you'll only be there briefly, your best route will depend upon what match(es) are taking place whilst you're there.

in other words, for 'A' matches, you'll probably need a (lillywhite) membership in order to get tickets (from the club, anyway. touts are an option otherwise, but will be pricey - hell, face value is pricey, but touts are outrageous - and as you are will technically be committing a crime, you may not end up getting in). most matches, however, go to general sale, so simply establish an account at the website, and order your ticket as soon as they do so.

summing up ... get a membership if you want to attend choice matches, or get the best seats (park lane end, thankyouverymuch). otherwise, don't.

as to the 'best football-related experience', i'd suggest choice matches and getting in the park lane end. white hart lane quite rocks for the big ones, but if i'm honest, i've been to a few where it was fairly subdued. a poor performance against less illustrious competition can lead to disappointment. beyond that, hit any of a half-dozen pubs on or just off of the tottenham high road pre-match (and post, if the game goes well) to augment your 'football-related experience'.

and if you get up to N17 early enough, stop in to get your hair done. you could end up with a very stylish hive, and perhaps meet assou-ekotto while you're there.

    Hi there nmw365,

Welcome to London (when you get here),
as pookspur mentioned, the best thing is to get a membership, but I would recommend to get a membership if you are staying for longer than 3 months no matter what. This is because you get lots of discounts when shopping in the Mega Store, you will also be able to apply for tickets, but the most important thing is that you get the opportunity to buy tickets from the Ticket Exchange.

The ticket exchange is where you can buy second hand tickets for most games, even Ar5enal and United tickets.

When it comes to pre, and post-match pubs, and watching Spurs on TV I would highly recommend the pub Bricklayers Arms. This is the pub with the best atmosphere no matter what.

I have also made a more complex guide for Tottenham, with how to get there and the most popular pubs in the area here.

If you are intr. going to away games and stuff, please feel free to get in touch, and I can try to help you out with tickets and transportation with that.
