Its official. The former "lets spend lots of money" manager of Leeds and Irish international has been named the new boss of perennial under-achievers Aston Villa. I don't think is a good appointment. He has little experience and was only made manager of Leeds as he had been George Graham's understudy and knew the players. Gary Megson or David Platt would be more suitable. As Portsmouth and Leicester look fairly strong and Bolton and Birmingham improving towards the end of the seaon I may pick Villa for the drop next year. A bit premature for that though I suppose.
Perhaps OBleary will do such a poor job that Ellis will sell the club. (I rank Ellis and Bates even as the worst owners in the top flight).
