Skripnik is an untouchable presence due to his connections with management and the board, heck even Eichin was sacrificed in order to keep him around.

No need to point out that I would have extdended with Eichin and sacked Skripnik after last season. I feel money concerns are still the major reason for thjs decision. That major investment into the stadium infrastructure before KATS broke apart really screwed you guys over. Was that the board' idea back then?

I don't have the full details about the stadium decision. But a factor to getting rid Eichin was also due to the board not wanting to give greater control to someone who is not a traditional Werder member. Money was definitely an issue in the past few years because of lack of available funds. But somehow Eichin managed to put together some reasonable squads through alternative methods of player acquisition and team building.

The alarming thing about this summer is that it's a first one in a long time, where we have positive figures to work with after improved financial results, last season's Pokal, and increased transfer revenues. According to TM, we brought in around 26.5 Mio from player sales alone. Which has allowed us to actually spend a bit. However despite all that, it appears uncertain if all the new player investments Baumann has done will work out in the long run. Some of this horrible start has to do with bad luck; with Kruse, Pizzaro, Junuzovic all injured right now. But our coaching personnel still remains the biggest problem, especially when looking at the toothless loss in the Pokal against Lotte. We also have other players on the roster who can possibly provide a solution, but for whatever reason Skripnik just does not believe in or give them a chance.

Funny how we once praised Skripnik for saving us from the wrath of Robin Dutt. But all that seems so long ago. It's become quite clear that he's gone way past his expiry date around here. He's lost control and direction of this team. The players look like they could really care less.

Skripnik is fired and with him also the assistant coaches Kohlfeld and Frings.
Alexander Nouri (U23 coach) takes over for the next matches, Florian Bruns (U23 assistant) coaches the U23 in the next weeks.

    P.S.:
Eichin asked in May to replace Skripnik by another coach and had to leave.
If Baumann and Bode have rest of some balls, they should also leave, horrible management.
Especially Baumann who extended Skripniks contact in summer.
