DC United vs Colorado Rapids 9 pm ET PLACES TO VIEW The Exchange 1719 G St, NW Washington, DC http://www.theexchangesaloon.com Please note a women's rugby team is having a party here starting at 8 pm (they will probably be outside in the patio, weather permitting). The charge for the rugby party is like $5 for all you can drink Foggy Bottom (you don't have to do this to come in but gee, sounds like a deal to me!). Summers Restaurant 1520 N Court House Rd Arlington, Va http://www.summers-restaurant.com Summers has the shootout package so if you want to come earlier and watch other games, come on down. Capitol Lounge 231 Pennsylvania Ave., S.E. Washington, DC http://www.soccer-nation.com I think they also have the shootout package If there are other places near you, add them to the list. K
Re: Re: Viewing Places for Sat, April 26 Probably because you'll be the first to yell "Hey ladies, stop singing those Indigo Girls songs so goddamned loud--we can't hear the game." No, wait, that'll be me. This whole DCU fans + rugby women + unlimited $5 beer sounds like a recipe for disaster. Or the plot of a really weird porno. Either way, I'm totally there.
If anyone finds themselves in San Francisco this weekend the DC game will be on at 6:00pm at the Kezar Pub on Stanyan. james
Re: Re: Re: Viewing Places for Sat, April 26 I'm a little scared... but looking forward to seeing you all on Saturday! (and I have confirmed - $5 all you can drink Foggy Bottom from 8 until close - or the kegs run out.)
DC United will be on at the James Joyce Pub, Inner Harbor Baltimore. They were on FSW this past weekend taking up 2 of the 3 TV's in the establishment with plenty in tune to the match.
I can just see the pickup lines: Joe Socc: So, are you a hooker? Jane Rugger: Your fly half isn't big enough. Joe Socc: Where's your prop? Jane Rugger: Ruck off.
NEW INFO ON THE EXCHANGE This was posted on the SE listserv as an FYI. I'm just forwarding here so people can make their best choice (or maybe Beth can clarify). Just for info RE: Saturday night at The Exchange: _ The rugby party is_not just a single_team's party; the DC team is hosting a tournament this weekend and The Exchange is the site of the tournament party._ There are between _25 - 30 teams participating in the tournament._ In years past the bars have reached capacity and turned folks away.__ They are expecting in the neighborhood of 400 rugby players and their friends this year, so I think it's safe to say they will be on the patio and at the bar, and at the basketball game and anywhere else they can find in The Exchange. _ There will also be a DJ all night, so if you want to hear any of the insightful comments made by the on air personalities, this will not be the venue for you to view this game. _ It is $5 to get in, and everybody will have to pay._ Once in, it's all the Foggy Bottom you can drink. _ I'm not trying to discourage folks from going, I just don't want anybody to arrive at kickoff and get turned away, or to arrive without realizing that there is a cover charge._ Or to expect that it won't be SRO all night. _ Thanks Bev
Anyone want to volunteer to kidnap me from a cookout in Carroll County (not too early because I do want to be there). I need to be released unharmed up in southern PA after the game.
Closest to Grand Hyatt I'm going to be in DC this weekend on work and am staying at the Grand Hyatt. It says its at 1000H St. NW. How far is this from the Exchange-walking, taxi, what's the best way to get there with no car. Damn shame there's no home game the weekend I visit. I should really schedule my conferences better>
Re: Closest to Grand Hyatt You're right on top of the Metro Center station (3 trains intersect there). You can either get on an orange train to Court House to go to Summers (which shows soccer all damn day, http://www.summers-restaurant.com) or you can get on a blue or orange to Farrgut West (1 stop) to get to the Exchange (http://www.theexchangesaloon.com) If you need more metro help while here, go to http://www.wmata.com and use the Ride Guide or stop at any station kiosk for a map or to speak to someone. K
Any restaurant in Sterling showing the game? I'll even drive to Centreville. My wife will be happy to go out to dinner Saturday night.
Re: Re: Closest to Grand Hyatt Actually, just so there's no confusion, the Farragut West station is two stops away from Metro Center on the Blue and Orange lines (McPherson Square, then Farragut West).
Thanks Thanks guys for the directions. Sounds like I'll be at the Exchange saturday late and Summers on Sunday morning. They do open early on Sunday? I can't think what good matches are on that am but I'll take anything.
Re: NEW INFO ON THE EXCHANGE Thanks for the heads up K. We're calling Brad this afternoon to verify. If this is what's really going on, then Summers sounds like the place to be.
Re: Re: Re: Closest to Grand Hyatt Thanks man, (and I take the damn train every day!) Chico I just sent you a pm K
My wife and I had a great time at Capitol Lounge for the DC v. KC match (inspite of the outcome). Plenty of space, plenty of tv's. The beer selection was good, food tasty, and all of the United fans there that evening were super friendly. I'm feeling two goals from Quintanilla this weekend. best, j
Xchange for the Game !! I just spoke to Brad (Bar Manager) at the Xchange. They will give us the Big Screen Room to watch United beat the Crapids. Wear your United gear to avoid the door fee!! Let's show them we are serious about our Futbol!
THIS JUST IN Ned Devines 3971 Chainbridge Rd Fairfax City, VA (703) 293-9600 http://www.neddevines.com/ They'd love to show DCU games, just need people to show up. Both locations indicate they have live music on Sat eves so call and ask about watchability (never been so don't know, just passing on the info). They also used to show games at their Herndon location so call and ask (number and directions on their website). K
It's a pretty good deal. The Exchange is serious about taking care of DCU fans and we in turn should show them our support. Wearing your favorite DC United jersey or scarf gets you in the door, cover free. Unless of course you want to pay the $5 and drink Foggy Bottoms all night. And they are setting aside the BigScreen room for us. If you live in town or nearby, come down a little early, grab a good table, some food and a frosty one. Lets watch our team get the first win of the season together.
Any Glory Days restaurant will have the game on. I know there is one in Centreville, and also one closer towards Reston in the Fox Mill shopping center that might be easier for you to get to.
