Keegans are going to open up early for the game in Kansas. 1PM kickoff. Probably drink specials. www.tommykeegans.com Oh and it is a certain Argies first game(possibly)
I thought Buffalo Wild Wings on Bethel Road was the Crew's official away game headquarters. Has this changed? It would be nice to have specials for Crew fans.
I don't know about Saturday afternoons, but it's a hard place to watch a game on a Saturday night when the place is crowded and atleast 75% of the people aren't there to watch soccer.
No, I think BWs pays for the official title. Anyone with a clue goes to Keegans, which is light years ahead for watching soccer, even with it's distinct odor.
I feel like this is a dumb question, but I need to ask. I'm in Lima on Saturday. Are there any outlets by which I can get this game? I don't think Lima Time Warner has caught up with CSN as a station yet.
Unfortunately, wifey has declared that I will be working in the yard all day Saturday, so I shan't make it to Keegan's. Too bad it's not a night game....
As 9 rush brought out it still may be the "official" place to be, but keegans is the place to go. Not sure if anyone else on here know's the management but I'll have to try and work on 'em and see if we can work up drink specials especially if we can turn keegans into the unofficial official place to watch games.
Be on the lookout for Chavs when you go to Keegans'! I hear they can cause a bit of stir if left to their own devices.
Hopefully they'll post the time so I don't have to stand outside begging them to let me so I can have a beer.
Some of you probably just got the email from Marius, but for those that didn't. Tommy Keegans will open at 12:30PM for the match tomorrow against KC
I'm there!! Thanks for the invite. I am sure the atmosphere will be as good, if not better, than BWW, except I won't win anything at Keegans like i have at BWW. Someone said it earlier that most of the poeple at BWW are NOT there to watch soccer and some get REALLY upset when the match is turned on and the sound is played loudest. Those same folks would rather sit there and watch cars go in circles (which I just don't get). I remember once running a couple of those guys out of Rush Creek because they got quite beligerent because the Crew match had been turned on but when they saw that their two voices were drowned out by the impromptu songs from the Crew fans about rednecks and such, as well as the same crowd descending upon them, they quickly grabbed their ball caps and scrambled to their pickup truck with the gun rack and high-tailed it out of there. That was one of my best memories of these viewing parties, and there were not many memories except bad ones I had of that place. anyone remember those days where we were shoved upstairs with a limited menu and one server for the place? Yeah, they were real receptive to Crew (soccer) fans, weren't they?
The "rednecks" reference was something said in songs, not by me personally. I grew up in Ironton, so make your own conclusions about who among us might be considered rednecks (and I do NOT like NASCAR).
Sadly, Footyref, you know as well as I do that we have a tough time convincing non-soccer fans to join the ranks becuase they percieve it as being a bunch of guys kicking a ball around without ever scoring. NASCAR, like soccer, is one of those sports that once you get it, it's hard to not get it. That said, Keegan's doesn't strike me as the place you'll find NASCAR fans on a Saturday morning. Or really any other time.
