Okay, I just called the Brit in Cupertino. Tommy is the one who organizes the TV scheduling. But he wasn't there. The lady I spoke with told me that they have nothing scheduled for 4/4.30 tomorrow. So we should be able to see the game on one of their big screens. This is NOT YET CONFIRMED but I need to get a head count of people who will go if I can arrange this. We will have a better chance of seeing the game on a big screen if I can tell Tommy that there will be a big group of us there (power in numbers). So if you want to see the game and you can come out to see it, then please, please, please join us at the Cupertino Britannia Arms!!! The address is: 1087 S De Anza Blvd San Jose, CA 95129 For now, I need to get a count of people who want to go so I can give it to Tommy when I call later today. So if you want to go, please post here with the number of people who will be with you. I'll be contacting Tommy later today to finalize this.
I will be there if the game is on TV. (I'm not yet convinced that it will be on TV, but please include me in the numbers you're going to give to Tommy so he can make his decision.)
Hubby and I would definitely show up if we knew for sure that the game would be on. We were planning on a backpacking trip this weekend, but if we can see the game at the Cupertino Brit we want to stick around.
This game is only available on the shootout package and I don't think the Brit has that. If you can confirm it will be shown, I'll be there to watch our side snuff out, otherwise i'll just listen to the game on 10 watt mexican radio.
ditto w/ what other's have said. if can confirm they'll have it, i'll show up when i can. battch GO QUAKES!!!
MLSnet lists the game on Dish network and DirecTV. Tommy won't be in until later this afternoon or even this evening. So I won't be able to get confirmation on them having the Shootout package until tonight.
That's a better source than anything else I've seen. Here's the link: http://www.mlsnet.com/library/2002/ontv.html It's listed as "MLS Enhanced Stadium Producution" where the other games show the local network which is broadcasting the game. So it looks like they're putting it on just for the shootout package. Better than nothing. Thanks for tracking this down, Erin. Well, keep us posted. If all else fails, you can come to my house... except the DirecTiVo is in my bedroom, and I don't want y'all hanging out in my bedroom. And I don't think you want to hang out in my bedroom either.
No worries! At least it's getting my interest back in the game! I'm going to try to call this afternoon to see if anyone can just verify the shootout package at the Brit. Hopefully I can get that much confirmed.
Does anyone have Direct TV and a big enough house to handle some fans? I've got the former but not the latter. This is in case Cup Brit doesn't have the game. Maybe we could all pool for the $49 to get the shootout package for this one game...
Count me in if there's a showing at the Brit! p.s. My company and I are doing a walk-a-thon that morning but it's suppose to be done by noon. If anyone would like to sponsor me, I'm still taking offers so PM me. It would be for the Special Olympics foundation which is a very good cause. http://www.sonc.org/regions/siliconvalley/events/
I'll call in just a bit, but I just noticed this added to the TV schedule on MLSnet: "BROADCAST ALERT: Not originally scheduled for broadcast, Game Two of the San Jose-Columbus series will now be available to all MLS Shootout Package subscribers through an Enhanced Stadium Production Feed. For the first time, fans watching the MLS Cup Playoffs on DirecTV, iNDemand and Dish Network will receive exclusive access to a game otherwise unavailable. The broadcast will feature audio from the Crew Radio Network simulcast featuring Dwight Burgess, along with clock and score graphics and limited replay ability." I think that's makes it official that the game will be on. Now I just gotta confirm with the Brit if they have Shootout. *crosses fingers
I might be there (just so ya'll have someone to vent at, I promise not to gloat when the Crew sweeps.). It shouldn't cut into my evening plans (I need to be in SF by 7:45pm).
I do need to know since I will be at an event until 4:00 pm. After that, I have to make the mad dash. If it's at the Cupe, then I'm there.
That doesn't sound right, read it again... is it just me or is it going to be a radio/audio ONLY broadcast with some replays and an updated score?
Okay, called the office. Here's the new scoop. THE OFFICE IS ARRANGING A VIEWING PARTY AT THE ALMADEN BRITANNIA ARMS TOMORROW So, don't show up at the Cupe. The office will be posting more info here shortly. So look for their post. Oh, and, they are showing the actual game.
It sounds like it's going to be the game, live from Columbus Crew stadium, on TV, but without TV announcers. For play-by-play, they're using the Crew's radio broadcast on top of the MLS video feed. Since the Quakes aren't broadcasting this, they're using whatever facilities MLS uses to record the game, but showing it to people who bought the Shootout package. I think.
Thread closed so no one gets confused. The official viewing party is at the Almaden Brit. Go here for more info.
