Will wonders never cease! A match we can all actually watch on TV! The Midnight Riders would like to invite everyone out to the OverDraught on Sunday, April 13th for the Revolution's season opener against the Fire. The game is scheduled for 7 pm. The OverDraught has been kind enough to offer up a free buffet starting 30 minutes prior to game time for all Revolution supporters, as a "Welcome back" type of event. All ages are welcome ... and here's hoping to see the Revs start off the season with a victory over Ratz-of and his diving buddies.
Where did you get this information? I thought all REV games had to be viewed on computers , in Spanish, with water streaked televsion cameras providing the coverage. Free food, beer and REV supporters in one room? Where's the Overdraught located?
Taking nothing away from the Overdraught (I have had a great time there watching a number of games) but it is a long drive for some of us. It is still worth the haul for "big" games, but perhaps we need the "away viewing" thread back for the new season. I watched one playoff match at Smokey Bones in Springfield last year. It was easy to get them to change one of the TVs to the game even though I was the only one watching it (others had suggested they might go). Perhaps some of us "westerners" could make plans to gather there for some matches this season.
Hey, if you can make it to The Overdraught then great. Understandably it's out of the way for a good number of people. If you know of any number of Revolution fans in your area who might enjoy watching the game together, then maybe you can seek out an establishment that could be accommodating. That's one grass roots way to build interest. That being said... The OverDraught is located in East Cambridge between Inman Square and Lechemere. The 69 bus lets you off one block from the pub on Cambridge Street, and is about a ten to fifteen minute walk from the Lechmere Station on the Green Line. They have been quite generous and accomodating in the past in showing Revolution away matches as well as U.S. National Team matches, and even when they're not offering up a free buffett (which had some damn good hony BBQ wings last time), the beer selection's good and the food likewise, also being fairly inexpensive. It's a long way from watching games at the Crimson Sports Bar & Grille (R.I.P.) in Harvard Square which always seems a protracted battle to have games televised. In short: The more people show up, the more money you spend on food and beer, the better the relationship between fans and establishment. The Magpie
I think the OverDraught (sp?) sounds like a great time but I also live In W. Mass. Someone said they want to find a bar near here where fellow Rev-elers can watch the game I would love to go. I know a place little place in Chicopee that people could go to but I'm sure there is a nicer bar somewhere in the area where people can catch a match. It would be nice to have contingents across the state to enjoy the Revs.
Better check the time. The Celtics are on at 6:00 PM and some think the Revs won't be on until 8:45. Other listings don't have them on at all.
The OverDraught is expecting us at 7pm on Sunday night for the viewing of the match live on AT&T3. The buffet is still on as well! See you all Sunday!
It's funny, I look forward to the start of every year with a lot of excitement. But because of what happened to the end of last year, this is just different. The excitement level is just so high. 31.5 hours till kick off.
This stinks for those of us who are not in Boston. I guess the Revolution won't be televised for a lot of us. This seems to be a short-sighted decision on the part of the Revs in my opinion as it will decrease interest in the Revs if they can't be seen on TV.
Thanks, I hope so. I'm concerned because the TV guide listing for Fox Sports New England shows something called "Best Damn Sports Show Period" for 9:00.
