http://sports.yahoo.com/m/world/news/reuters/20020912/reu-vieira20020912.html My guess... he gets the weekend game off-- we need him v. Dortmund.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/a/arsenal/2253371.stm ... And Le Boss says, "Get back to work."
Well put The cheek of him, asking for a few days off! In all seriousness though... man he never gets a break does he. How many matches did Viera sit out in the last couple of years?
not counting suspensions of course.... heh heh, maybe his display at Stamford Bridge was just to get a few days off
I don't see the harm in giving Paddy the weekend off. Even without our star midfielders, we can field a capable lineup. Nothing wrong with putting Razor in the middle alongside Gilberto, or Edu and Gilberto in the middle, Pennant wide right, Wiltord wide left. And hasn't Toure shown the versatility to fit in pretty much anywhere in the midfield? I'm not saying take Charlton lightly - in fact, I'm a tad worried about this one after they were beaten by an unsettled Villa team. But surely we've got enough squad depth to manage.
He will be be given a rest against Bolton I believe or what ever the game that is between champs league games. Given it was mandated by Andy D'Urso, but its a rest nonetheless. Wenger is the best judge of fitness in the game. If he thinks Viera is okay, then I trust him.
What surprises me is that this is being aired publicly. It seems that it's personal business which we shouldn't be hearing about, and that worries me. God, I hope this isn't the first step in a Viera-to-Real move.
Now don't start that! For the love of god man we've finally just gotten rid of that topic! -- As for Vieria, seems very strange indeed that he would plead fatigue after just five matches. Sure Arsenal started playing pre-season games in July but come on, how intense were those outings? Not very, surely. And as TSO said, just what the hell was he doing all summer? The World Cup wasn't a big drain! The French were barely there long enough to get a good sampling of local cuisine, much less play enough matches to take a toll physically. If it were April and Pat has played us usual 95% of the games so far than maybe I'd say it was fair he ask for a rest against a mickey but not on the 12th of September. Hard luck old son. Soldier on.
