Apparently Arsenal led an effort to oppose a stay of the ban pending a ruling of the CAS. Were I Man City, I'd be pretty pissed about that too.
Pep’s outrage is ludicrous. City have clearly flaunted the rules and are rumored to be giving him another £150m to spend this summer.
Well, season over and ManUre and Chelski claim CL places, d****t. Plus Wolves struggle down the stretch to finish behind S***s, who claim a Europa League spot. So Arsenal the only "Big 6" club to finish outside of Europe. Really wish we Arsenal could have swapped the S***s and Wolves results. Alas.
Arsenal wins the FA Cup. Wolves win the Europa League. Spurs drop out of Europe altogether. The dream lives on.
Swansea beat Brentford 1-0 in their first leg. Brentford given a straight red around 70' mark that I thought was harsh. Swans' Ayew also had a penalty saved. Hoping for an all London playoff final, myself.
Same, plus for various personal and petty reasons I'd rather the Welsh clubs never return to the Prem.
Is that how it happens? I would have thought if Arsenal win the FA Cup, we take Wolves spot. But if Wolves win EL, they enter as champions and it wouldn't cost someone else their spot.
Couldn't edit my previous comment, but for those wondering... Sadly if we win the FA Cup, and Wolves win the EL, Spurs still qualify. Wolves would count as qualifying via European competition, where as the 7 domestic competition spots in Europe would be taken up by the top 4, LC, Spurs and us if we take the FA Cup. The only thing that changes is if we win the FA Cup final Spurs have to go into the second qualifying round, if we lose the FA Cup final Spurs go straight into the group stage.
So you're saying if we win on Saturday, that means we've beaten Chelsea, won a trophy, qualified for Europe, and made Jose end his vacation early?
Eddie Howe has left Bournemouth, where does he get his next shot? “Having spent a total of 25 years with the club as both a player and a manager this decision - made together with the club - is one of the hardest I’ve ever had to make. “However, although the affection and love I have for this football club will always remain, we collectively feel that now is the right time for the club to go in a new direction. “Bournemouth will always be in my heart, but I firmly believe that now is the right time for the club to have a change. I have always ensured that every decision I have ever made as manager has been in the best interests of the club and its supporters, and this is no different.”
He’s a completely class act that Eddie howe. I’m not at all surprised he left. I’m famous for my interpretation of body language, and what he showed in the post match interview after they were relegated said it all to me. I think he deserves a chance at a bigger club with a larger budget just to see how good a manager he might just be. And depending on how well that goes, I can still imagine him on the list for potential future Arsenal managers.
Imagine prognosticating on future Arsenal managers *two hours* after the youngest manager in the Premier League won the FA Cup in his first year of managing Arsenal...
First half-season actually. All the more impressive. But I'm under no illusions that Arteta will stick around for many years, even if he's successful. Wenger was essentially the last of a dying breed. Thus it's no slight and not much of a stretch to imagine future candidates for the job. And that's not mutually exclusive from being "on board the Arteta train" as I did in the MD thread earlier.
Playoff Final is just starting: Brentford vs Fulham. on ESPN+ (maybe the last match I watch on there for a while) Good to see Tim Ream is still holding down a starting CB spot at Fulham I've always had a soft spot for them, having had a few memorable visits to the Cottage over the years, and following all of the Yanks who played there. However, Brentford's story is pretty compelling, and it'd be pretty fairy-tale stuff for them to get into the Prem. Although it wouldn't be exactly lucky... they seem to have quite an organization.
IDK. I'm only watching it occasionally out of the corner of my eye but Fulham seems the more dangerous... and seem to have more of the ball. I just wish they'd get rid of the fake crowd noise. Maybe next season we'll have more options to choose "natural sound"
