So the Saliba injury situation is of particular interest to me.

While I wish him nothing but the best in whatever he decides to do in his footballing career, I was led to believe a few days ago that he was out of the World Cup altogether due to a back injury he's been managing throughout the league run in.

And when I read it, I assumed it was a similar back injury to the one that kept him from featuring during the 2023 run in, which led to our first of three consecutive 2nd place finishes in the league.

Perhaps that's not the case at all, but what I am now more interested in is how International footballer player contracts actually work when it comes to club over country.

As an American football fan, I don't claim to know how any of this works, so I'm asking with genuine intent to learn the truth.

But in America, there isn't a world where American NFL, NBA, or NHL players would "be allowed" to play for their country "for free" in some global competition, at the expense of potentially not being available to play for the club they are contractually obligated to play for in a timely fashion.

So what is happening here with Saliba? Is he going to forego surgery for now, so he can play for France and get the surgery he needs after the world cup?

I have obvious follow up questions, but don't expect many here to have the answers.

I am very concerned about Rice with the national team making him a co Captain signals to me he will be started and played a lot. The coach knows he's played too many games but can't rest him. Pisses me off.

Rice can be rotated with Anderson

I’m not sure about tuchels squad and he’s left out a couple of players like Wharton and mls who could contribute

no idea why Spence is in the squad

Rice and Anderson will both start. Anderson is Tuchels boy. critical to how they can now play football properly.

Short answer is 1. We don't know exactly what Saliba's injury is or how serious it is. Lots of conflicting reports on this. All that's been confirmed is it's a back injury of some sort that he's been carrying for a bit. 2. Yeah, we pay our players' wages, obviously, but we can't refuse to let a player play for his national team if the player wants to do so. The club could potentially face fines, forfeitures, transfer bans, all kinds of punishment from FIFA.

Pretty obvious that the owners at Wolves have rocks in their collective head.

Burnley has sued and won a 35M GBP compensation for being relegated in the 21-22 season when Everton violated PSR and was able to avoid relegation and Burnley were relegated.

By that precedence, the financial improprieties by Chel$ki and Cheaty could open them up for lawsuits from other teams, which could be substantially higher in payouts as number of teams that were financially impacted by their schemes is much larger and over more seasons.

Everton’s £35m legal bill to Burnley could be a ‘watershed’ for football. This is why - The Athletic

FAIR! I honestly forgot there was a hoops thread. :ROFLMAO: Shit, perhaps it was me that caused it to be started in the first place?! That’s so long ago, I have only a vague recollection.

I had turned it off in a rage and turned it back on in the fourth quarter. This Knicks team is something else. It's the opposite of the Isiah Thomas era.
