Regardless of who he is or what team he plays for, I feel really bad for the lad. Could be career altering. Hope not.

Tonight is their cup final. They aren't winning anything this season and against Barca away they are getting done 3-0+.

Even their goal was lucky. Off Barnes shin and straight at the keeper, it's as close to an own goal as you can get.

And Newcastle give up a tired penalty in stoppage time.

Lamal scores and Newcastle's slim chance is now probably gone.

    Clever contraction there?

p.s. I just heard some stats about him, compared to Messi & Ronaldo, and he's way way way ahead of them in terms of goals scored at a young age. Wonder if he'll maintain his quality and not burn out early because of him being used early and heavily.

    He will burn out.

Messi didn’t play as many league minutes in a season as Yamal did last season (at age 17) until he was 23.

Hard to believe Spurs were 4th in the CL league. Had they stayed healthy.....?

Technically City can win the quad. Yeah, yeah, far more unlikely as us as they are below in the league and have a tougher road map in the CL, still have that pit in my stomach.

Spurs would be smart to rest key players in the return leg perhaps. Don't see how they stay up in the league. Their game vs Forest in a over a week's time is gonna be a good one. Must win vs Leeds in the future, its going to be interesting.

Just zipped through The Atalanta-Bayern match on my DVR. Wow. Bayern seems like the scariest team in the competition right now. Several notable pundits have called for us to reach the final against them. If that’s the case, we better improve our form by then. Tonight they were absolutely ruthless.

ps. Their first(?) goal tonight was a corner that was a thing of quickly-taken, opportunistic beauty. We’d have been damn proud to concoct one like that.

Bayern is going to be like PSG last season, their spring form went up a higher level than the fall form. BM was already scary in the fall, they have a far, far easier league run.

Guarantee you they remembered our game vividly and want revenge. If or when we play them again it will be a very different game. They'll be more rested, better and hungry for revenge. Them and City are two teams I don't want to face. Hoping both gets knocked out prior.

Yes but Messi and CR are super anomalies respectively. Longevity, UCL football since debut, going to the right teams during their legendary runs, plus the coaches who made them, SAF, Enrique, Mou, Carlo, Zizou there at the right time, teams with money during their reigns etc.

Yamal and many others won't get this easily. Honestly look at Mbappé. World class but coming to a team rebuilding and having growing pains. Yamal cash stripped big club.

And I'd argue that a big part of the reason for their longevity is how they were eased into the senior game. I said Messi didn't match Yamal's league minutes in a season until he was 23. C. Ronaldo didn't until he his second season at Real, during which he turned 26.

Modern Barcelona has a compulsion to burn their young players out. Look at what happened to Gavi.

They had one of the easiest draw in the league stage with a bit of luck with O.G against Villarreal and Bodo.

Couldn't believe how many pundits were predicting a City walk over, i saw predictions of City 0-2 or 0-3.

Don't think anyone had a Valverde hatty on the cards though that's for sure.
Way more ties are done after the first leg than expected.

Bayern, Atletico, Real Madrid all through and Bodo have been excellent away from home in the UCL so with a 3 goal buffer they are likely as well.

Chelsea just conceded 2 late goals so their tie is basically dead too. Not sure they are scoring 3 at home and giving up no goals.

During the Post Match show just a bit ago, Micha was being all doom and gloom (because City lost) saying what was coming up next on the show with a sad, lazy tone when Tierry chimed in trying to encourage him, saying "come on Micha, come on Buddy Love" :ROFLMAO:

Only away team to win in the round of 16 was Bayern. Think Arsenal and Liverpool go through.
