Yeah. That was a bullet dodged. So doping violations in footy seem incredibly rare. How’d he get caught??
I just watched Wrexham S4E3 “Disney FC”. Good show, including their 2-man funny/straight routines. Ps. Interesting that they’ve brought in the billionaire Allyn fam as a new partner. Rob & Ryan must be running a little low on their own liquidity, given the investments they need as they eye the Championship.
They are rare because the testing regime for the top pros is a joke. Chelseas med team likely just messed up, or he freelanced it because his career wasn't going well. https://theconversation.com/meldoni...mykhailo-mudryks-doping-test-explained-246218
Sounds like he got caught during international break from what I had seen. Glad we dodged that bullet, Tross is ten times the player.
Love this But there must be safety nets in these contracts for the club in situations like this? If a player is involved in legal issues, doping, etc etc
Pogba and Juve agreed to a mutual termination 9 months after his ban went into effect, so I doubt Chelsea will be able to unilaterally sever the deal. I know teams can insure against injury, but doping suspensions seem like a bridge too far, if only because the insurer would want to investigate whether the club bore any responsibility for the violation, and no club wants an outsider digging into their “training” methods like that.
Been sorta watching KSA-USA in Gold Cup. We're not a very good team under Poch, but TBF it's a team made up mainly of 2nd stringers. While he tries to evaluate who might be useful in a year's time. To put things in perspective, the pretty clear MOTM so far at 73' is Chris Richards. And I don't mean to throw any shade his way. He's been key at both ends... goal saving block in 1T and only goal of the match (so far) in 2T. Edit: he’s also chosen Matt Freese to start both games, over Matt Turner. He may be trying to engineer our new #1?
KSA are poor, USAs best team should and would batter them if they played anywhere outside of Saudi Arabia where the weather and conditioning gives them an advantage against teams not used to it. Asian World Cup qualifying they had chances, and yet scaped results against Indonesia, China and Bahrain. Would love if they missed the WC, but even if they scrape in they are going to be cannon fodder.
Really good performances from Richards and Tillman who has become one of my favorite players in football to watch in the last year. Love his game. Berhalter's kid plays with attitude and I appreciate that. Good player. Not sure if he's a WC player though. Matt Freese actually plays football. Something Turner hasn't known much about in the last 2 or 3 years. He absolutely should be playing over Matt.
Honestly, I don't mind Poch doing this if, for no other reason, find out if the USMNT has real depth or it's all smoke and mirrors after a first choice XI.
Obviously not the same, but in US sports suspended players generally go unpaid during the suspension and their salary does not count against the cap or luxury tax. Contracts that are guaranteed pick up again when the suspension ends. Pogba was originally given a 4-year ban that was reduced to 18 mo, Mudryk will probably see something similar. So Chelsea will still be paying his salary until 2031 unless they come to a termination agreement.
Dortmunds away kit inspired by the English rugby team with the white shirt, white shorts, black socks and 02 sponsor.
Yeah. Just saw highlights and on the little screen, I was using it kinda looked like England versus Brazil. Footy not ruggers of course.
40 year old Santi Cazorla scores a goal that helps his boyhood club Real Oviedo win the promotion playoff and go to La Liga. Amazing that he's able to still play at such a high level after all the injury issues he dealt with.
He seems almost ideally suited to be a player manager at Oviedo. But if he wanted to work for us, there should be an open door IMHO.
Cazorla, Diaby, Wilshere, and to a lesser extent RvP and Rosicky would have had completely different Arsenal careers were it not for injuries. As for Pogba, he was his own worse enemy but he was a massive talent. Mourinho and a few other managers starting with Mourinho who didn't like him at all. Shattered his confidence. Mourinho can do that. He did to Martial as well .
Don't forget Eduardo. That said theres a difference between Rosicky and RVP who were injury prone, Diaby who's issues stemmed from a dogshit tackle, Wilshere who had his legs shredded by midfields weekly and Cazorla who had a freak injury that escalated. That said I think should Cazorla stay fit he stays at Arsenal a long time.
