Whoops got my sportswashing clubs mixed up, Oilcastle are Bonesaw FC, Man City are 130 FC. Although with how their fans are going off online, I guess that makes them 130 - 1 Vardy last game for Leicester FC, in his 500th match scores a goal which is his 200th for the club. Dude was a baller, wonder how he would have gone at Arsenal.
Apparently the undertow at the beach in Brighton is pretty strong. Liverpool gave up a lead at 65' and all points at 85'. I know nothing else than that. So Sunday if we win and they lose we could bring the gap down to single digits. Woohoo! p.s. Nice effort by BHA, given that I'm not sure they have anything left to play for, since they were sitting 10 pts behind Forest in 7th place. Or does 8th place somehow earn them UEFA Conference League??
I had the game on while working. Fun game as a neutral. With little to play for both teams employed heavy squad rotation but still created lots of good chances as seen by stats below. The winning goal was originally called as offsides in the build-up but was overturned by VAR.
8th can but it’s not very likely. Chelsea needs to win the Conference League and finish 7th, or win the Conference League and finish 6th with Newcastle 7th. https://www.espn.com/soccer/story/_...-league-teams-qualify-champions-league-europe
Yeah I had heard something along those lines and the odds seemed so low that I ruled it out. But perhaps Brighton hasn't? The old "you mean you're telling me there's a chance" meme?
Chelsea finishing 7th isn’t completely outside of the realm of possibility. They play Forest on the weekend and if Forest win they leapfrog Chelsea into the top 6. Then all it takes is a Newcastle draw or loss to Everton, who have been revived under Moyes and wins by Villa and one win by City in their last two for Newcastle to end up 6th. Since it seems unlikely that City will fall out of the Champions League places, my next choice is Chelsea, so I will be pulling hard for Forest to win on the weekend.
Liverpool get gifted an easy title and switch off right at the end of the season. They were close to going the season with 1 loss, being nearly invincible, but they are in party mode now. Hope Salah doesn't break the Henry assist record this weekend, Henry had 20 and Salah is currently on 18. Hope Palace beat them 1-0.
As a person he is trash, as a footballer he was excellent. Sadly a phrase floating around a lot these days.
Don't think they care much. After 4 straight years of City winning the title and another couple years of being 3rd behind Arsenal, they'll take it and the icing on the cake is they tie Man Utd for most titles ever. And instead of having to go near 100 points to win the title they sewed it up early. They were supposed to be 3rd at best this season, some saying Chelsea or Newcastle would edge them for 3rd and they'd have to fight for a CL spot. Trust me, they aren't that crying about it.
I want sp*rs to lose, keep their trophy-less streak alive and laugh at Ange's year 2 guarantee. And it would be funny if United see a win as a reason to go all in an Amorim, buy a bunch of players specifically for his system like they did ten Hag, only to fire him a few months later when they are sitting 16th again.
Only to see the false hope raised by Utd fans then see Man U crash out at the group stage. Seriously, they need a couple of seasons of real progress and smart signings. This car crash approach is not serving them well at all.
I have a horrible feeling Spurs win this final because the sporting gods love a good gag, and Spurs winning a trophy after Harry Kane ********ed off is funny.
Here's the problem for fans of Man U: you want the club to act like Bayern or Real. However, unlike your club, they've got the infrastructure that, if the signings are less than ideal, financially they can take that hit and keep pushing forward. United are £1 Billion in debt with very little wiggle room and, with PSR standards, they can't make moves like Bayern or Real without consequences. Juan Sebastian Veron is a prime example is the SAF days: bought him from Lazio, thought his game would translate to the PL and United would grow stronger. Ultimately, didn't work out but United were in such a strong financial position that they could take that hit and keep pushing forward regardless. Antony is the other side of the coin: They bought him at ETH's request/demand, transfer fee was huge, wages more so...hasn't really worked out. But they can't move him without taking some type of financial hit. So, unless some Saudi club is really intrigued with buying him and increasing his wages, United are stuck with him.
No shade thrown if Palace can actually win this game, after what they just did 3 days ago. Also, the other game is MC 2-0 BOU at HT, so we just need the visitors to keep them from running up the scoreline much more than that please.
